So I was at a college friend's wedding last weekend, and got to see lots of my old college friends there. Besides gushing about how wonderful it was to see my old friends, and talking about old times and old friends in new times, I'll just cut to one of the interesting moments.
One of my friends, who had a wonderfully compatible boyfriend (finally, she was always going after these druggies who were no good for her), gave me her advice on finding the perfect mate. She said,
"You know what B. I'm going to tell you the key to my success...You have to find someone with the same geeky-ness level. That's the only way it works, and that's really how simple it is."
At first, I thought of it as something just to pass the time at a party, but as I thought of it more, and hung out with her and her new boyfriend, I started to dig on it. Both are very accepting of each other, both have similar senses of humor. They also had funny quirky things that they both like; in this case, punk music and zombie flicks.
So, it's just up to me to find out what my kind of geek is. It's going to be tough, since I've got so many different geeky interests. Music, philosophy, laughing at the overly serious, sitting outside doing nothing, gabbing. Hell, add D&D, ska, and ukiyo-e. Well, it's just so much geek that where can I find someone to match it? Whew, tall order, but I'm sure there's someone to meet it.
