CURRENT FAVORITES:
Matthew Dear, "Deserter"Zola Jesus, "Sea Talk" (which I prefer to
the original version)
Benoît Pioulard, "RTO" The first driving class yesterday was all right, I guess -- some of the stories and anecdotes mentioned throughout made it somewhat bearable (the best one: that time when a guy tried to get away with driving in a restricted lane by having a blow-up doll in the back seat), and a lot of it was good review. But it got really painful when the instructor started breaking out the DVDs. :/ (Interestingly enough, the instructor was the same one I had three years ago -- he doesn't remember me, though.) Oh well, I'm halfway done with it, so whatever.
A while ago, I mentioned in passing that Climatology Nerd was going to be working in a café kitchen at Glacier National Park in Montana this summer. Well, a couple of days ago he quit his job. There were a lot of reasons leading up to it -- his boss chewing him out over a minor mistake involving Italian dressing, her not letting him take time off when he was sick with a bad cold, etc. -- but the proverbial straws that broke the camel's back were a coworker cursing him out over nothing, his boss refusing to give him the raise she promised because she thought the overtime he was making working 10-12 hour days was enough, and that the job was too high-stress and boring than a kitchen job had every right to be. I feel really bad about what he's gone through, and I'm still a bit worried about him, but I know it was for the best, and I'm sure he'll manage -- he usually does in situations like this, anyway. Last I checked, he's in Idaho right now, trying to figure out what his next move will be.
Recently I started chatting on and off with someone I'm friended to on Facebook, a guy who I really haven't talked to on a regular basis since, well, freakin' middle school, now that I think about it. He sought me out because he noticed I had Tom Waits quotes on my profile, and it turned out we're both fans of Tom Waits. Anyway, he admitted to me not too long ago that he's going into rehab tomorrow for alcoholism. Considering it was past 1 AM when he told me, and I was tired and wasn't quite in my right mind at the time, and because I wanted to say something that would help make sure I sympathized with what he was going through, I told him about my "depression" issues. He seemed to take it well enough, though I think he probably got a little freaked out about it, and now I'm feel all self-conscious about what I said. I mean, it's not like I'm ashamed about it or whatever, but I probably shouldn't have told that to someone who I've only started talking to recently, even if he did take it well. Eh, he'll be gone for at least a month, so maybe I shouldn't worry too much.
Anyway, in order not to make this post a total snooze-fest, here are a couple of memes:

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. Pass it on to 15 (or more) people you like, include me. You can't, however, use the band that I used. Try not to repeat a song title. It's a lot harder than you think! Repost as "my life according to (band name)".
