i knoooooow, right? the national are kind of UNRELENTINGLY amazing. MATT BERNINGER, GIVE US A BREAK AND SHARE SOME OF YOUR AWESOME WITH THE REST OF US PLS *________*
d'aw. what kind of sense of humor do your aunt and uncle have? ngl, they still sound like people i would totally want to hang out with.
admittedly, i haven't read anything tim wise has actually written (i first heard of white like me, like, juuuust before i read your post xD), but just...the concept squicks me a bit. maybe it'll get some mainstream attention and get some more people to be a bit more socially conscious; analysis of privilege is definitely something more people should be thinking about. it's just the formatting that squicks me, i guess; i know the title is supposed to be provocative, but i feel like a memoir all about white privilege runs the danger of being terribly solipsistic and perhaps even counterproductive. again, i have not actually read this book, so this is a total gut reaction; i'm just expounding on why i'm a bit wary of it. maybe it'll turn all of my assumptions on their heads, har har, which is what activism is supposed to do anyway ;).
