The revolution will not be televised, because there will be no revolution

New Year's Eve was pretty decent; we went out to eat at the same Chinese restaurant we went for my birthday, and as always we had a great meal there -- I won't go too much into it like I normally do, but I will say that Thursday was a good reminder that edamame, spring rolls, brownies covered in hot fudge, and good tea make everything better.  :D  Fortunately we were there early, before the NYE crowds started coming in, so we didn't have to wait too long for our food.  Afterward we went back home; admittedly, it was a quiet and rather boring night, but I spent most of it online except for when I was out rewatching most of Up with the rest of family (not quite as entertaining as the first time around, but still worth seeing again), and once again to see the ball drop and wish everyone a Happy New Year.  (And a very nice surprise later on that night -- you'll find out what by the end of this week.  Two of you on my f-list know what I'm talking about.  8D;)

Yesterday was even less eventful; mostly we went to visit my dad's mom, which was an excruciatingly boring two hours because she's at that point in her life where she's run out of things to talk about, but it's still good to see her again.  And Transfridays (eight threads this time around), and finding out my J-term class doesn't require me to buy any textbooks, which is HELLA AWESOME WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!  XDDDDDDDDDDDDD  And even though today was marred by the fact that I've been feeling a little bit under the weather (it was snowing today, albeit lightly) and having to wait THREE FUCKING HOURS just to get a haircut, I've been feeling pretty good lately.  I don't think I could hope for a better start to the year, and although part of the onus of keeping up the good vibes is on me (I don't make resolutions, but I do have some goals in mind for this year, which I'll probably delineate further sometime later this week), I really hope it stays at least marginally better than 2009 -- I don't think I need to explain why.  ;-)

Right now I'm a bit sad because I go back to college tomorrow, and once again my vacation has largely been wasted.  :(  At least J-term shouldn't be too stressful -- the class, yoga, Japanese review sessions, language tables, Japanese movies, anime club, and other club meetings should keep me relatively busy, but I will definitely have enough time to do the things I want to do.  If I want to meet whatever goals I'll plan for this year, though, I have to focus on three things: 1) learning how to read stuff for classes faster and more productively, 2) learning how to focus on something and not get distracted, and 3) getting things done as soon as possible.  It'll be tough, especially when spring semester comes around, but once I get these three things down I should be all set.  I'll definitely seek out help, but here's hoping this works.  ^_^;

So I'll start getting my to-do list in order, finish packing, and try to relax as much as possible before tomorrow morning.  Let's hope this J-term is a good one.
