I've finally been taking some time off from Tumblr, if only because it's become too boring and cumbersome to keep up with right now. :P I'm sorry for not having been on there lately; at some point, I'm gonna have to unfollow a number of blogs so that it becomes a little less stressful and all-consuming.
I plan on starting narrowband UV treatments for my psoriasis next week (I've been on broadband up until now, with little improvement); hopefully that should help, even if it means having to go into New Haven twice a week. ._., I also brought my parents to one of my appointments with my therapist a couple of weeks ago, which went extremely well! I decided to bring them in because I wanted them to help me become more independent and competent in various day-to-day things and life skills; part of what I'm going through right now involves feeling really useless when it comes to things like cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, managing finances, looking for jobs, and things like that. I mean, I know I'm capable of doing some of those things, especially since I have when I was in college, but being almost 23 years old and not having that much experience doing basic things like that really bothers me. So I'm hoping that taking on more responsibilities will help. I read something on Tumblr a while back about how most people have a baseline of capability, and people with depression and anxiety have to fight tooth and nail to reach that baseline, so that's what I need to do. I really can't do it without my parents, though; fortunately, they've been really on board with the whole thing, and words can't express how much I appreciate that. It won't solve everything, of course, but it's a good start. ^_^;
Also: Has you ever started watching a TV show knowing it was really, really problematic and/or just plain bad, and yet it was entertaining enough where you just couldn't stop watching? Because lately, that's what's happened with me and Top Gear. I caught an episode on a whim a couple of weeks ago, and I quickly got hooked. It's rather embarrassing, since after hearing what
Steve Coogan and
Stewart Lee had to say about it, I ought to know better. But when the hosts aren't being complete assholes? It can be a very funny show, and sometimes even an informative one too. It's supposed to be about cars -- which, let's face it, isn't a subject that interests me that much -- but it's really about the three hosts taking part in various car-related races and challenges, and failing miserably and hilariously at them. And anything having to do with The Stig, I admit. XD (They also had guests like Ryan Reynolds, Michael Fassbender, and Matt Smith on there recently. Y'know, if you're into that kind of thing.) I don't see this obsession lasting that long, though -- I'm not going to make excuses for
all the bullshit they've done, and I guess I needed something to tide me over before Community starts again in two weeks. But still, it's fun!
If you're interested, here are a couple of my favorite Top Gear challenges (which aren't that problematic):
The Race Across London (sorry, I had a hard time embedding these):

(Really, the whole episode this was from was rather good -- they reviewed an electric car that was interesting and one they actually liked, and there was hardly any offensive bullshit in it, apart from the bad jokes I mentioned above.)
Anyway, I'll end this with a meme from
mmouse15:
Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your journal. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.
1. Do you have a lucky charm or routine?
Not really; I'm not a superstitious kind of person. I do like having routines, but that's just the kind of person I am; I don't have them for good luck or anything like that. I mean, I might cross my fingers or knock on wood once in a while, but it's done in a mostly joking way. ^_^;
2. Food
This one's a bit broad....If you're talking about favorite foods, I'll copy and paste what I wrote
here: "In no particular order: Chocolates, cookies, cheese, M&Ms, edamame, sushi, tempura, shrimp, ravioli, tortellini, stuffed bread, freshly cooked broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, bananas, grapes, blueberry muffins, scones, tea, iced tea." I'll add pepperoni, raisins, chocolate-covered raisins, and artichokes to that list. It's an interesting mix of healthy and unhealthy things, I guess. 8D
I always enjoy going out to restaurants, because you know you'll get awesome-tasting food there. Nothing against home cooking -- it saves money, after all -- but after a while it gets a bit samey, y'know? Good food is one of life's great pleasures, and I hate missing out on it. If I'm enjoying it, though, I don't ~savor the moment~ -- I eat it as fast as I can. Slowing down ruins the experience for me, honestly. XD Plus, I always stop when I'm full or I had too much. No sense in eating if it becomes a chore, even if it seems ~disrespectful~ or whatever.
3. The last song you heard
"Hood" by Perfume Genius.
4. Favorite childhood show
This is a toughie....I can't really say I had a favorite TBH, because even though I watched a lot of TV when I was younger I wasn't really invested in it. I do remember shows like Arthur, Beakman's World, Dexter's Laboratory, Two Stupid Dogs, Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Legends of the Hidden Temple, ZOOM!, Real Kids Real Adventures, Thomas the Tank Engine, etc. -- basically lots of PBS/Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon/Discovery Kids shows. I didn't have anything I was really into, and I didn't watch any of them religiously, but I liked them and I liked watching them whenever they came on. ^_^;
Oh, I almost forgot -- Learn to Read! It came on every day at noon on PBS after the kids' shows were over, and I watched it a lot. What ended up happening was that by the time I started school, I already learned how to read whereas most of the other kids, er, weren't quite there yet. XD
5. Your first fandom
Transformers! Though a long time ago, I did once try writing a story based on something I saw on Real Kids Real Adventures -- does that count?
6. Favorite historical era, even if you wouldn't want to live then.
Another toughie. I don't really have a favorite era per se; I'm more interested in the entire histories of particular nations and cultures rather than a specific point in time. I find the histories of China, Korea, and Japan (especially anything pre-1910) particularly interesting, given that what little I know about them have whetted my appetite for more. And I could stand to learn more about ancient Greece and Rome, too. IDK, I can't say I know of an era whose history and/or aesthetic I like so much that it fascinates me beyond everything else. The Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Gilded Age, the Victorian era, the 1960s -- they really don't do it for me. I guess I just like modern times way too much. 8D
7. Your next challenge in life you want to tackle
Becoming a full-fledged, competent, independent adult. Getting to the point so I can travel the world, write a bestseller, start a business -- just to be able to do something meaningful with my life and be genuinely happy about it.
