The endnotes will assume a three-point structure composed of: the acknowledgements, the guide questions, and the notes. As the author subscribes to Proust's ideology on the death of the author (as the paragon and fountain of absolute knowledge regarding his/her work), these endnotes will only serve as a guide. It is up to the reader to draw symbols, meanings, and conclusions from the body of work.

By deciding to publish this, the author leaves everything up to the readers' interpretation and appreciation.

loljk. despierto was inspired by a picture i saw on tumblr while i was trying to scrounge ideas for #30DaysofErotica.

That being said:

acknowledgements.
- my brother, who patiently watched the documentaries with me, allowing himself to be the sounding board for my depraved ideas and pitching in details which are liberally included in this fic. dude's braver than me i swear. he also put up with a truckload of my crap. he's da real mvp.
- to drinn, who provided me with knowledge regarding architectural details i couldn't for the life of me understand; all her suggestions contributed to making the story even darker than i originally planned it to be
- to miles who has graciously answered my badgering questions about kou, though what turned up here was more "kou" than kou; i apologize
- to momo, who has been very understanding of this "project" of mine; i'll reply to the tag soon i promise
- to arah, who has always trusted me with midori's character; who has always believed in me and my writing
- and to the beatles, for composing the song, which i summarily ruined

guide questions.
parang reaction paper lang but seriously, message me if you wanna discuss it. ♥
1. Why the choice of the title? What is the relationship between the opposite states of being asleep and being awake?
2. What is the relationship between names/identity and death? Why is Tomoe's father never named?
3. What is the symbolic nuance/meaning of the renovation of Tomoe's new home, though there are many similar elements between her new house and the old one?
4. Who is Madame Esperanza Sueño and what is the purpose of her character?

If you wish to have another read through, it'd be better to listen to this while reading. then, try to find out why particular words and instances were chosen instead of another yay :'D

notes.
confession: it wasn't always meant to be this way. originally it was supposed to be some type of supernatural erotica or something. but then, then, it evolved a plot and here it is after one week of furious writing and a couple for the editing purgatory. i've always wanted to try my hand at something horror which may or may not involve notions of the supernatural, and i really have a lot to thank for my brother who helped me hash a lot of these things. and it's also the first multi-chaptered fic that i finished and had the confidence (??? if you could call it that???) to post, so i'd also like to extend my gratitude to al and drinn who went through the effort of hosting
summerpf2015 with me. i wouldn't have been able to do this without a deadline hanging over me hehe.

☆ tomoe's house is victorian, specifically shingle-type. this was the floor plan i used though i modified some details. meanwhile, this is the floor plan for her old family home.
☆ research was mostly done through a host of "references" which include documentaries :)) the haunted (animal planet); paranormal witness (syfy); old time horror podcasts (in particular "the house that time forgot" by murder at midnight and "graveyard mansion" by the witch's tale); there were many nights spent with the bedside lamp on HAHA
☆ helter skelter is a part of the beatles' album which supposedly inspired the serial killer charles manson
☆ yep, that was a stephen king reference and HAHA the lyrics of a filipino novelty song
☆ no penises were harmed in the making of this story.
