Feeling a little more asian now

I finally got the camera. I was thinking about asking my parents for help on buying the camera, but I decided not to. I'm just going to have to slowly replace the money from my checking to my savings to keep my zero in the bank by the end of the year. All I'm planning to do with the money for the rest of the year are the last two conventions, car insurance, school books for next semester. Maybe during Christmas I can receive money to buy a new flash unit and battery pack...:D. Even though I have the camera, I was really in disconcert whether to get the camera or not. Not to have it but the financial issue. The only reason I even got it was because I forgot I saved some money to possibly get a dollfie to invest in (don't ask me why).

There are some things I don't like about the camera but it's because it's a full SLR camera. To do certain things the Sony can do I would have to spend hundreds of dollars on new lenses. Hence I'm keeping my Sony for now as a spare camera. The 18-70mm lens does F3.5-4.5 when the Sony can do F2.0-8.0 with the integrated lens. The Sony can also do macro photography (taking a picture of an object being only a few inches from the object), and again in order for me to do that on the Nikon I would have to buy new lens. The Sony F828 is 8.0mp while the Nikon D70s is a 6.1 (total of 6.24), BUT! The Nikon takes the pictures at 300dpi while the Sony F828 records at 72dpi (bastards...lol). Like (I think most or all) SLR camera = NO VIDEO AND AUDIO...unlike the Sony F828.

However the Nikon is better than the Sony F828 in many ways. It doesn't produce as much grain as the Sony F828 at higher ISOs (F828 would start to produce grain from 100+ ISO which is sad). Recording speed kicks the Sony F828's ass. It takes less than a second to a second to record a photo in BOTH basic Jpeg and RAW, unlike the F828 which takes 20 seconds. Since it's a lower resolution camera, I can store more pictures on a compact flash card. Shutter speed capability is bulb - 1/8000 (sec). The Nikon doesn't use the LCD screen except for previewing pictures and setting up the menu, otherwise it uses the top LCD and the viewfinder to set the settings for taking the shot, therefore it saves the battery life (like a film camera). It took me a while to work the Nikon and is still learning. There are other comparisons, but the main concern was I wanted to try out an SLR camera that has quality and speed. It's nice how Nikons supplies you with an external charger to charge the battery BUT there's no ac adapter to attach to the camera...wtf. They do have the LCD screen protector attached already :D. The firmware setup is a whole lot different than the Sony F828 (well duh for me saying that). It's kind of like going from Windows to Mac, so it's not that lucid to me yet.

What's also nice is that I have some of the cables I have already, I'm getting a collection of Type A mini USB cables...lol. The cable that plugs into the battery charger is the same cable as a laptop, psp charger, and other things I have laying around the house. The video cable I also have.

Originally I wanted the Canon Digital Rebel XT, but I turned that down, then I wanted the Canon 20D but that cost $1999 with a 17-85mm lens ($1499 for an 18-55mm lens). The reason why I wanted to get a canon is because my dad already has a film one (Canon Elan II) and he has a Speedlite 380EX, but I don't want to mess with his stuff, even though it's collecting dust (literally).

And all these photos were taken with the Fuji Film S3000

Now more camera stuff
My dad asked me if I can get the tape door from his Canon A-1 video camera to open, but I couldn't since it's electronically locked and it's obsolete. However he did buy some accessories, but most were for 55mm wide lens thread. There was one accessory that did however fit my Fuji Film S3000. It's an official Canon wide-converter 0.7X. The converter itself weighs about the same as the camera...lol

Now I really have to go back to do school stuff. I have 2 tests tomorrow, one I think I can pass, and the other well, we'll see. I think I bombed my Macroeconomics test but I don't know about that either. I passed my Interpersonal Communications mid-term and got a 100% on my journals (which I don't know what the hell I wrote about). Lately I've been eating only 1-2 meals a day because I don't have time to eat, and that's bad. I need to do something about that, I'm losing carbs and calories to keep my body energized. This is what I hate about school D: , finding time.
