[Ahiru floats out onto a lake in her duck form, fog swirling around her as she does. She paddles in the lake for a moment, drifting, before raising up on her webbed feet and curving her wings into the air. With the water somehow supporting her weight, she slowly began to dance by herself, every now and then looking over her shoulder as if expecting

[ Fakir wanders in, blinking in confusion at the semi-familiar foggy setting. Where was he? And why did it look like somewhere he could have sworn he had been before?

He hadn't yet noticed the little duck dancing on the lake. ]

What the...?

[quackingly]

[Ahiru continues dancing for a moment, once again pausing to look over her shoulder...then quacking happily when she sees the writer enter the scene. She runs over, her webbed feet turning into graceful toes covered by ballet slippers, her wings into arms, her feathers into a golden tutu.]

You came! I knew you would come!

[sword_and_quill]

[ His green eyes broaden in shock when the duck comes toward him - and rapidly changes back into a girl with a golden dancing outfit. ]

Ahiru? Is this a curse? What's going on?

[quackingly]

[She speaks matter-of-factually--she's seen this lake far too often.]

It's a dream.

[sword_and_quill]

[ He looks around. ]

This is... home? I haven't seen it in quite awhile.

[ The ex-knight glances back to the golden-garbed redhead. ]

Your dream, huh? Or is this all the City's doing?

[quackingly]

I think so. It's my lake. The lake I met Mytho at.

[sword_and_quill]

...Isn't it the Lake of Despair? It looks like it.

[ ooc: ...I could totally be wrong, but I couldn't think of a lake actually in the town. Just that pond by Charon's. ]

[quackingly]

[pouts] It was my lake first!

((OOC: I think inside the town there's only the underground lake, yeah. But Ahiru also says she's from "by the lake" and the girls say "Oh, you live outside of town?" so...))

[ He rolls his eyes. ]

Alright, fine. Possessive over a lake? Must be a duck thing. It doesn't matter.

[ ooc: Ohhh right. The underground one. But yeah, those lakes looked the same from the beginning and near-end, so I just assumed they were. >>; ]

[quackingly]

Right.

[She pauses, then brushes her skirt a little and looks up at him, fidgeting.]

...Um...

((OOC: I think the Lake of Despair and Ahiru's lake IS the same lake, although I'm not...sure? But the one in her dream looks the same, and the location's right, and it would explain how Ahiru could be from outside the story but still taken into it, because Drosselmeyer had control of the lake, too...))

[ Fakir raises an eyebrow at her actions. ]

Hm?

[ ooc: Yeah, I think it does explain things. XD I'm not sure either, but it seems really plausible. ]

[quackingly]

[She raises her arms above her head and twirls her hands, then holds out a hand to Fakir.]

Will you dance with me?

[sword_and_quill]

[ The other brow joins the other in arching upward. ]

You want... to dance? Well, I guess she's dressed for it.

[ He gingerly takes her hand in his, accepting with a small inclination of his head. ]

[quackingly]

[She smiles, squeezing his hand and slowly leading him out onto the lake.]

I got to dance with Mytho here, once, but not with you. Not like this, anyway. The one time you dance here, I was just a duck.

[sword_and_quill]

[ Keeping in mind that this was some kind of dream, he wasn't worried about plunging into the waters - and thus followed her without question. ]

...You danced with Mytho here?

[ He scoffs. ]

I haven't danced out here before. But we have. ...Just not above water.

[quackingly]

Yeah, but...I mean in my dreams. I saw Mytho dancing here once, and then once I danced with him but he turned into you and you mimed "death" and you looked like you were in trouble. ah, um, and then another time I had a dream where you, Rue and Mytho were dancing, but...I was just a duck. And I couldn't dance with you.
