So...I didn't find robbie williams. As it turns out, the mofo wasn't in NYC at all (thanks to kainoy's stellar listening skills haha, s'all good since she was just looking out). It's okay though, the nyc trip was much fun.
Lisa and I are like the postal service...we travel through blizzards, fog...whatever mother nature decides to throw our way.
It was touch and go whether we were actually going to go though. In the end, we waited until noon to go since by then the highways were pretty clear. The trip was quite quick until we got to some crazy accident in delaware where some huge truck had dropped all its cargo (soggy boxes from what I saw). After, smooth-sailing until the Jersey/NY area where it had barely stopped snowing.

good luck getting a taxi in manhattan!
it was so cold that seeing steaming cup noodles was like seeing an oasis in the desert.

Lisa's friend Kenny met up with us the previous night and slept over. It was a night of McDonalds and playing Uno. The next day, we trekked to the park so I could take pictures that look exactly like last year's, sans orange fabric. It was fun watching Lisa and Kenny snowball, er, snowchunk, er, snow-boulder each other the entire time. Lisa was so snow-covered that she had to go back and change. I stayed and circled most of the park, snapping pictures the whole time with all three of my cameras. Boy howdy was it slippery. People were tripping left and right, including yours truly.
And slushy? Mannnnn, I was across the street from the Waldorf-Astoria, the entrance was in sight...when my shoe got stuck while I was crossing a snow drift and my entire right foot stepped into what looked like a chocolate margarita. The guy behind me was like "oh shitttttt" and coming from a 30-something businessman, it was pretty funny.

later on Lisa, her big sis Paula and I had a fun st. valentine's dinner @ the Times Square TGIF. I was still clinging to the hope of running into you-know-who, not voldemort.
zoo | DC | 18 feb
raquel, dave, steph & me went to the national zoo to see the new baby panda. we had tickets! ok sure, we didn't need them but i felt special having tickets anyways. first we had breakfy @ panera in alexandria. "cool vina you'll get to see all the runners." it was steph's first time to the zoo, I was excited for her hahahah. it was really cold though so many of the animals were either inside hibernating or something. It was like in Jurassic Park when they saw no dinosaurs. "velociraptor!?......................................."

highlights of the evening:
- all but three people ordering the general tso's chicken.
-
donnie forgetting he was in a vegetarian restaurant. I was reading my menu when he covers his face with the menu and snorts. "what are you doing?" "i was looking for the beef section!"
- josh exclaiming how much he loves josh groban and how he yelled "will you marry me?" at last year's concert.
- donnie exclaiming throughout the night how good the water tastes. "this water tastes so good! omg guys, it's great. it's so clean tasting and a little sweet." kudos to
Sunflower for using their special filtered water for drinking and cooking.
- taking class pictures in the cold cold air.
- watching little rascals on the way to the restaurant. it just seemed funny to me because stereotypes would dictate that one must listen to loud pumping music during car rides in an mr2, engine revving so loudly one must holler to be heard. but oh no, donnie and vina pimped out the little rascals. I guess we're odd that way. "quick! what's the number for 911?"
- all the av&t girls inquiring about my neck/back. aww, thanks guys. it's pretty sore but getting better!
- donnie (6ft.) standing next to mariam (5'2ish) "so...you look up to me huh?"
- donnie "hey guys they have 'cheese' pie!" me/steph/mariam/
nasreen: quick glances at each other "uh..okay?" "you know....cheese pie..it's like da cheee cayyyke." which leads to the telling of the cheesecake story.
- coming back to
nat's and making her try my leftovers "omg this is good! so it's vegetarian? what's it made of?" "oh..soy protein and other stuff." cut to me trying to explain what soy protein is. uh..it's soy..you know...soy..i guess they process it in a special way...yeah i'll look it up later.
and last, but not least, an aim convo to round out the evening.
donnie: haha you know that
pic of me in the phone boothdonnie: i put my name on it.
donnie: and everyone thinks its actually on there
me: yeah. idiots.
donnie: lol
vina: who in their right mind would think that?
donnie: i know.
donnie: specially after they've seen my pages you would think they knew i dabbed a lil bit in the photoshop
me: yeah
me: they swear there's a magical phone company named donni.
