"grab a blanket, sister. we'll make some smoke signals. bring some new blood. it feels like we're alone."
- Nickel Creek 'when in rome'

I blame Nickel Creek.

It all started a few nights ago, when I was staying at my grandmere's house, at 3 AM in the morning watching the GAC music videos-only channel. I had that channel on recall because I was hoping to catch this music video from '98 that apparently exists only in my mind since I don't remember the title, song lyrics, or artist. I can see it in my head though, hence the GAC viewing. Anyhow, I saw this black and white video with a good beat, a violinist that looked like nora o'connor and a buble-lookalike laying in a puddle. Turns out it was Nickel Creek's 'When in Rome'. end first night.

A couple days later, I come online and think "hmm...I think I'll get that song. sounded pretty cool." so..I download the damn thing. Ten minutes later, I get a soulseek message from a person I shall refer to as Pantalon de Chat.

p.d.c: how come you aren't sharing any files?
me: (total lie) oh, i'm in the process of backing all my files so i'm moving everything around.
p.d.c: i see. it sucks when someone downloads a song from you and then you can't see what they have.
me: [thinking "sheesh"] oh sorry, i'll have them up by tomorrow.
p.d.c: ok. i'll check back tomorrow.  end second night.

Next night. Before signing on, I actually made a stupid shared folder so that person wouldn't have anything to gripe about. Stuck some random stuff in there in like..boogie shoes, best is yet to come, low rider, kung fu hustle song, this fire, only about 30 songs. Forgot about it.
p.d.c.: I can see you haven't got your music shared yet.
me: what? no. i have it up.
p.d.c.: there's not a lot of files. only about thirty.
me: what? there should be more..mainly andrew bird. oh..hahah I didn't add the bird files.
p.d.c. okay. i'll wait.
me: have you heard of him?
p.d.c.: no I haven't.

This is where I go into a two minute Andrew Bird spiel, his talents, who he's toured with, etc. I should be a general in Steph's Bird Army. Put up the old bird files to placate this insane lunatic. They proceeded to download all of them. w-t-f. Basically, I recruited a new bird fan. I turned a soulseek harasser, nickel creek lover, sister of an ani difranco fan, person from oregon into a bird fan. Hopefully, she'll become a better person. Side note: I especially like how Stephanie and I automatically assumed she was a girl because she was being a bitch.

So anyways, I shall talk of fall topics. I brought out my winter scarves today and rearranged my closet a bit. Stuck all my purses in my closet and put the scarves on that hook. Brought out the mittens and gloves. My winter wardrobe is mainly my summer wardrobe with scarves and more black sweaters. Not as many skirts though, this makes me sad.

Yummy, le chocolat. I bought some Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate the other day, since I have so many  marshmallows left over from the huge sweet potato mountain for my birthday. I wonder, who came up with the concept of mini marshamallows? Who said "hey...instead of one or two regular sized marshmallows, we can shrink them...that way people can add twenty to their cup!" Is it because mini marshmallows are easier to use for shingles on a gingerbread house or as albino smurfs in the holiday villages that steph's mom likes to set up (I still like the bakery)?

Another fall topic. I hate raking leaves. That is some manual labor best left to younger siblings and cute neighbor boys. All that raking..and the bagging! The bagging is the worst. And for what? Two days worth of clear lawn? Thank you, no.

I like roses that actually open. The roses that stay as buds should never be bought. That, and supermarket red roses. You know the hype about long stem red roses? I hate them. I hate them! Wait...ok ok ok, if they're going to be red, they have to be that dark dark velvet red..and preferably cabbage roses. I'd rather someone have a little imagination and send me some sunflowers or paperwhites..or whatever my fav. flower happens to be at the time. This has nothing to do with autumn but that picture of the roses is RIGHT there so...

I was complimented on this outfit at Trader Joe's yesterday. I like offhand comments that make you wonder for a second whether or not that person is actually addressing you. As I was walking by this middle-aged couple, the husband said "NICE colors!" and I had to look down at my outfit before saying "huh? oh haha, thanks!"

k bye.
