Con Report: Con-G '11

Feb 23, 2011 15:13

So, I finished up with Con-G on Sunday, which was in Guelph, Ontario. And it was awesome, as expected. This was my third year in a row at Con-G, and it's a great convention--I love it. It's one of the smaller cons I sell at; it has a friendly atmosphere, and is less stressful than the bigger shows I attend.

I had a table in the artist alley again, which was set-up in the events room. That's one of the fun things about selling at Con-G: watching all the events helped keep me entertained while manning my table. This year, they had the voice actor Brad Swaile as a con guest, which I was pretty excited about. He played teen Gohan in the dubbed version of Dragonball Z, an anime I was really into back in the day. Usually I never get to see con guests because I'm too busy selling my plushies, but his Q & A was in the events/artist alley room. So glad I got to watch!

Much of my time was spent chilling and chatting with artist peeps Ronda, Minji, and Tiikay, and sewing mini toast plushies while selling stuff. Had another convention all-nighter. Instead of taking the bus back to Toronto and wasting time and money, I spent the night hanging with Ronda, marathoning episodes of Young Justice on her laptop, and then lazing around in the 24hr anime room. I don't do this as often as I used to--I'm too fond of sleep nowadays, and being a con hobo wears you out after awhile.
Con-G sales were slow last year, but happily they picked up again this year! I ended up dragging a much emptier bag back to the greyhound bus stop Sunday afternoon. I want to visit Con-G again next year, please! <3
