Your into math and logic though right? I'm the same - if it contradicts itself I can't quite grasp how someone can't see that. It is blindingly obvious and yet so many people continue blindly ignoring the lack of logic in their unquestioned theories.

Yeh that is interesting, I haven't read it, but it makes sense that they would. I mean if someone is able to believe in one set of irrational theories then it makes it easier for them to accept another.

And an irrational belief requires that the believer not question their beliefs for fear of having to change them - and admit a mistake. I was reading about cognitive dissonance today and the way that if someone with a strong belief in something is faced with proof that their belief is irrational or ill founded, instead of re-evaluating their theories, they create a narrative that allows them to still believe - or they flat out refuse to acknowledge any views that might prove them wrong.

ps. thanks for the comment, I'm terrible at remembering where all my little buts of info come from I'll be able to come up with all sorts of valuable data for a theory and have no reference for where it comes from. I am continually taking notes but they are never enough. But I figure it is the information that is important - not the reference - and that we can always go back later and find the research when required.
