2005 is now over

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Traveled Europe with just my wits (and Christine), lived in Wood, finally felt at home in my major

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
sort of. I did knit myself a sweater, but it doesn't fit. i didn't get a 3.5, as hard as i tried. i studied too much. i never went skydiving, maybe this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
...I don't think so

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope

5. What countries did you visit?
America, England, France, Belgium, and Holland. ROCK

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
A big rock (just kidding!). To travel by myself, actually by myself, and not flip out.

7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
August 12, because RA year 2 began
the thursdays i spent in the marsh, for being the high points of my semester
those three weeks in EUROPE

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Adapting to Wood, feeling comfortable with myself and my studies

9. What was your biggest failure?
Being far too emotional for my own good.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Fairly spectacularly ending up in the hospital after the Weezer show

11. What was the best thing you bought?
the black swishy skirt, my white fleece.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Jessica, for adapting and overcoming. Megan my rooms dearest, because we got along much better than anticipated. both of my staffs, because of how they take care of me.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Those who do not care for the Earth. narrow minded individuals

14. Where did most of your money go?
Books and food

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Nyland Hall and Wood Hall

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
Open Up by Dispatch, Be Still My Heart by Postal Service, and most of my new indie finds.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? about the same
b) thinner or fatter? about the same
c) richer or poorer? richer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
i wish i had allowed myself to open up to my new staff. had lived more passionately. spent more time on my floor.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
checking my email. questioning myself and others' actions.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
i spent it with the fam right here in new england! it was quite nice, if a bit frenzied.

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
I have a pechant for falling for completely unattainable men. 'nuff said.

23. How many one-night stands?
Considering I had a grand total of one date this year, no. considering how i wanted to claw the eyes out of that one date... definately not

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Extreme Home Makeover

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
meh nope

26. What was the best book you read in 2004?
Holdfast by Katherine Dean Moore (makes the biologist in me warm and fuzzy)
His Dark Mateirals by Philip Pullman (sure, they're for kids, but they were darned entertaining!)

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Oh man. this was the autum of musical discovery. New Pornographers, Why, Sigur Ros, Hello Saferide, Architecture in Helsinki,

28. What did you want and get?
a digital camera, really good handcream, bedsheets, a roommate, a single room, sushi.

29. What did you want and not get?
an appartment, a date to winter ball, to go to the bio party.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Pride and Prejudice, Rushmore, Wit,

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 20 on a thursday. the tuesday before, in staff meeting, Cami made me an ice cream tower of Ben and Jerry's, because for Lent i gave up all sweets but ice cream. That friday, Steph, Ang, Anna, and I went out to dinner at Punjab's for Indian, and then to Swing City, where most of my staff was. Very satisfying.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
More time swing dancing, less time doing A Chem.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Scrubby Chic. i dressed usually for comfort, but pulled out nice shoes and shirts and whatnot for important things.

34. What kept you sane?
My roommates, laughter, my staffs, writing.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Johnny Depp, Colin Firth, or Matthew MacFadayan.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
environmental care

37. Who did you miss?
Heather or Meg and the Nyland Staff of '04-'05

38. Who was the best new person you met?
the Woodrew Staff of '05-06 and Megan the rooms

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
Don't let grief stop you from pouring yourself into others.
