Crap. I hate this kind of stuff.

I just heard a woman crying somewhere outside my apartment complex, really hard. I couldn't tell if she was drunk or what but she really didn't sound too lucid. At one point, though, I did clearly hear her say the words, "I'm going to kill myself", so that's when I got my jacket - I was worried she was by herself and heading for the park down the road, where there's a lot of wooded area to hide yourself in if you wanted some privacy.

Turned out she was sitting across the street. There was another figure with her, a woman in white, who had some heated words with her and eventually crossed the street back to our apartment complex's side of the road. The crying woman crossed the lawn of the apartment complex opposite us and disappeared into the shadows. I was going to question the woman in white, but then I saw a man heading in the direction the two women had just been standing. I asked him if he knew the crying woman, and he said yes, it was his daughter. I told him I was going to call 911 if she was talking about hurting herself, but he said no, "she always does this", and she was upset about breaking up with her girlfriend (the woman in white, I'm guessing). He crossed the street to go talk to her, and so did the woman in white. I haven't heard anything since.

I haven't called 911 yet because I'd hate to escalate the situation if her dad and her girlfriend are already trying to talk to her. Also because you can get in trouble with your lease if someone calls the authorities out for a disturbance, even if it's to keep you from hurting yourself.

I can't hear the crying anymore, or the shouting. I'm hoping they calmed her down, but I still feel a bit guilty for not calling emergency services...that's what you're supposed to do when someone talks about hurting themselves, right? And now it's been a while since I heard anything so the people might have already all gone back home and there'd be nothing for the responders to respond to if they came out anyway.

Gah, I hate this.
