he will knock four times...

so, apparently a secret 'someone' appears at the end of waters of mars who really shakes up the doctor, and sets up the plot for the finale.

...matt smith.

yes, i've been rooting for this to happen ever since he was announced, but i still think it would be the awesomest thing ever to have the new doctor somehow show up or send a message to guide the departing doctor through his final days / regeneration...sort of a 'doctor who, psychopomp' kind of thing.

the reason i'm mentioning it again is that ever since the waters of mars press screening, a lot of interviewers have been asking david tennant whether he shares any screen time with matt smith in the specials (and which he has cagily avoided answering)...which wouldn't make any sense, as different members of a regeneration are almost never in the room at the same time: tennant and eccleston weren't; and john simm and derek jacobi weren't. the only reason for them asking it, then - since everyone on the planet NOT hiding in a cave knows that the tenth doctor is going to regenerate soon - is because they saw the screening, and know there's the possibility that the old and new doctors might meet face to face before the big event.

...or not. but still. it would ROCK, you cannot deny that.

if it's not the eleventh doctor, though, my money's on timothy dalton as the mysterious 'narrator' time lord. mainly this is because around the time of planet of the dead, i remember rtd saying that if you thought you knew what 'he will knock four times' meant, you were wrong; and the obvious person to knock four times is the master (i would LOVE for it to be the master, of course; i just think it's not very likely). also, the time lords have this annoying habit of showing up out of nowhere and totally screwing the living hell out of your life (just ask the second doctor).

or it could be wilf. that'd be the comic relief version: big bad scary BAM-BAM-BAM-BAM knocking, and it's...wilf.

still, though. most likely dalton; rather it were smith; would love it to be simm.

Q
