sherman alexie writing about losing his hometown basketball team. there's a lot of stuff that people who aren't obsessed with sports in general or the sonics in particular might have to wade through, but it's worth it for the odd gems like 'hypocrisy in an airborne contagion' and some touching stuff about his dad. oh, and hey, he says he's coming to portland more! i really, really hope that translates into him doing lots more readings at powells, since i've never had a chance to hear him live.
