So! I don't know if you've all been following blue_fjords's fic series about a teenage Jensen and Misha romance? If not, you really should. It is AWESOME.
Now, it's no secret that i've *always* adored blue's work and I was THRILLED when I managed to lure her over into SPN with me after Torchwood. She has such a glorious way of characterising people; weaving in tiny details that are both unexpected and so familiar that you just have to fall in love with them. Added to that, she tells a damn great story. They're so smooth and enjoyable, a joy to read.
So, recently, I also pulled her into RPS *evil cackle* and for the schmoop meme, she wrote teen!jensen and teen!misha romance. And it is glorious. It's set in Texas in 1991 (with awesome references to such a time, oh the nostalgia! air jordans!) in the midst of a hot Indian Summer. Jensen is 13 (turning 14) and Misha is the strange boy who moves into the neighbourhood. Misha is older, 16 turning 17, cooler, and has a beat up car called the Babe Magnet. The first story is of the summer they spend together, Jensen's coming of age and the deep friendship between the boys. The following three stories are missing scenes from that summer.
This series of stories just does it for me so much. It's so evocative and fun. The friendship between the boys is gorgeous, and the burgeoning feelings delicately handled. Obviously, the boys are underage (so be warned if that's gonna squick you), and there is an age gap between Jensen and Misha. However they're treated as equals throughout the story, in fact, that's what makes it so sweet... despite being the younger neighbour kid, Misha treats Jensen like an equal and Jensen appreciates it. And falls in love.
