Wow. That was amazing. So personal, so right there, in that moment. A realistic look at what it's like for them, how they've changed, why they've changed. And the different ways of looking at things, accepting them.
And then all the unspoken things in the air, the bitterness in Orlando's tone...perhaps misdirected, perhaps not. Interesting how there are tense moments and then moments when he thinks it may be all right again...and then trying to just get lost in the physicality. Just incredible. This is one of those fics to really think about.
I really liked all the little interesting moments, like with the zipper, and the bandana. Really great stuff.
That was exactly what I was going for, change.. and change can be bitter, and hidden and even unwanted. I just wanted to explore the idea that even though they all were 'the fellowship' they have all changed since then, it's inevitable because it's life.
Oh this is so lovely. Really, really, so lovely and careful and evocative. I started reading fast then had to go back to the beginning and go through every line slowly to get it. I was expecting them to go straight into the sex; instead, there's this wonderful scene of tipsy fatigue. And then an interesting, complex, revealing (but not too overtly) conversation. And oh yes, THEN they have sex. *beams*
I love the motifs, the pacing, the way you've flexed the story out to exactly the right length (not that I'd have complained at more).
Such a thoughtful look at transition and appearance and relief. Thank you sweetie for writing this lovely thing.
I love your description of 'tipsy fatigue', that's exactly the way I wanted it to feel. Also great that you like the motifs, and the pacing - because, especially with the pacing, i was very paranoid about because I wrote this in installments, each time in a very different mood..
and yes, transition, appearance, relief.. that is a good way of describing what i was looking at :)
Hello. shrinetolust recommended I read this, and I'm glad I did, because I thought it was delightful and subtle and sad and quietly surprising. Very lovely. :)

Glad you saw that there was familiarity in there, and that it was about change.. it was angst, yes, but not hopeless angst :)
