"Heaven In My Head" by Walter W. Quinn III
There’s this thing that happens whenever you’re around;
Something stirs, and twists, and warms, I’ve found
That everything is clearer when it involves us too,
It’s simple, it’s crazy, it’s chaos, but it’s you.
I sometimes lie in bed for hours, dreaming, wishing, alone
As I always am, but you’re always with me still, moving, unknown;
And I find that if I lay on my side with arms around my invisible, adieu…
It’s peaceful, it’s silent, it’s quiet, but it’s you.
I wake up in the morning, confused, cold, but then
The sun’s warmth arrives, and I remember you, and when
The day is over, I’ll be with you again, a thought to chew;
It’s tasty, it’s spicy, it’s sweet, but it’s you.
The world passes me by, and I laugh, and smile, and wait;
People walk, machines drone, nature sings, and I hate
That time is so cruel to me, teases, wants to subdue;
It’s confusing, it’s crafty, it’s talented, but it’s you.
But then….
The world stops.
My arms embrace
My mind envelopes
My heart explodes
And we collide.
Even time has trouble reaching us here,
But let him try! I dare him, I’ve no fear
Because our skin connects,
Our lips touch,
And our dreams
swirl.
But, alas, one day, he finds us, and we are parted;
And my eyes water, I’m nearly brokenhearted,
But the night will soon end, and the day begin anew,
It’s hate, it’s love, it’s beauty, but it’s you.
