Well I can't believe it's taken me this long to update. Oh wait, yes I can! I didn't have a home until this past weekend! We were finally able to find a place to live after a solid month of searching. Not being able to speak Korean really worked against us but we finally found a place that has the location, size, and price that we could work with. It's kinda bittersweet though considering in a month or so I'll be leaving. But, as I promised Evan, I want to make it feel more home-like before I have to go. That's going to be a bitch and a half of a goodbye. ::sigh::
Just went in for all of my medical work and shots yesterday. Both of my arms are still reeling from the pain. Why do they have to put those mofos in your muscles?! Next week I go back for results and my yellow fever vaccine. Fun, fun, fun! I have to get reimbursed for everything since none of the hospitals would just bill the company directly. That sucks because now my AmEx has a balance again, foo.
In the financial world though, things are looking up for me. My credit score climbed nearly 70 points since last year... Good credit here I come! It's going to be nice getting those zero to low interest rates when I want to purchase things. Hurrah! :) See
mickelboy, it may be worth it to stick it out over here, if only for 6 months!
Went to Fukuoka, Japan to have my tourist visa renewed and fell in love. The Japanese we encountered were so friendly and helpful, basically the antithesis of the general Korean population. The streets and sidewalks were clean with no spit/loogey bombs to be found anywhere. The food was absolutely to-die-for and I wonder where the hell the Koreans got their culinary ideas from! I can't wait to go back again for Evan's work visa...
catsluvdmb, I'm looking to come to Kyoto if we can to get the visa processed. I told Evan we must must must come see you since it's so close! Fukuoka was fun but really dead, so we want to go somewhere with a bit more history and geishas! :) I enjoyed Japan so much that the fish for our wedding will be made Japanese-style... perhaps teriyaki, haven't decided yet.
Making an official call here as well for updated mailing addresses! If you haven't already sent me yours for the wedding, I need it, STAT! Going to be sending "Save the Date" cards and eventually invites. If you don't receive one, it'll be your own fault or the Post Office's! ;)
I think I'm definitely going to South Africa for my first vacation. It sucks cuz I won't get to see Evan until September but at least it'll build up some anticipation lol. I'm going to have a mini-safari trip hopefully with my friend there and I want to go to Namibia for scenery (and other obvious Angelina Jolie-like reasons) lol!
Got the digital camera fixed. FINALLY. The problem? The batteries were the wrong type! Bought batteries in Europe that were zinc carbon when the camera apparently only uses alkaline. Who'da thought it would've made such a big difference?
Alright, I best be off... Need to finish some work and then do laundry. Unpacking and then repacking is going to be hell on Earth but since I'm not working full-time, I guess it'll give me something to do.
How about that Cho Seung?! People can say he was crazy all they want but they ain't seen nothing until they come to South Korea. Thank God they have the foresight to ban guns here! I feel for the VT victims... the image of the cellphones on their dead bodies still ringing when the paramedics were taking them away is quite haunting.
Discuss amongst yourselves...
