Various things

Well, I had a good weekend.

Inara came over on Saturday. We went Halloween costume shopping with my mom. First we went to the Halloween Spirit stores. We couldn't really find anything we liked as far as costumes were concerned. But we did find a really cool broom that moves, cackles, and plays music. We bought it of course, lol. ^_^ I found a devil's tail I'm going to go back and buy at some point. I also found a necklace with bat-like wings and a black stone at the center of it. Inara found a really awesome sword necklace that she's going to wear.

We went to dinner at Tokyo Joes. I love that place! I am addicted to the food.

We went to this really awesome costume store called Reinke Brothers. They have a Haunted House every year that opened this weekend. We looked around the store until it got dark. I found my costume for this year. I'm a little leery of it, since it was found in the section of their catalog called "Sexy Costumes." But it works for what I want to do. I also found the perfect horns and fishnet nylons. Inara found some guns and a bullet belt. By the end of the night, she decided she would be a hunter from "Supernatural," which is awesome! ^_^

After we paid for everything, we took the stuff back to the car...and went through the Haunted House. Oh...my...god! I would recommend to go early to these things! First of all, we were the only ones going through at that point, so all the people had no one to bother but us. We spent most of the night screaming our heads off. Second, I believe they made this a lot longer than usual. It took awhile to get through. But it was really cool. There were several times we got stuck between "monsters," which was not so much fun. My mom took her time going through, because she was in front and didn't like going from room to room. Third, they had a "Labyrinth" room, where they had a stone head built into a wall telling us not to go "that way." It was cool! The dancing skeletons room was back as well!

The only room I didn't like was where there was complete darkness. I buried my head in my mom's back while we were going through that room. Mom and Inara didn't like the spinning room. Last year, mom tried going through it with her eyes closed...but they don't allow that anymore. They have a lovely monster waiting for you at the end, so you have to keep your eyes open...and get dizzy!

There was one room designed like a spooky forest with a guy in a really cool werewolf costume that waited for you to come to him. My mom stopped. She would not move. So he moved to the side. I had to push her to keep going. At one point, there was something in front of us, and two somethings behind us. My mom tried to make us back up. We refused. Eventually, we moved on. Inara and I knew the only way out was to keep moving forward.

In the end, we had like three things chasing us out. A guy who was dressed like a mime, a guy in a Jason Vorhees mask, and a psycho killer from the psycho ward section of the Haunted Hosue. Wasn't that fun?!?! *sarcasm*

Actually, I do enjoy that one. It's my favorite of all the Haunted Houses I've ever been in. It's got the adrenaline rush of a roller coaster without being too scary. Of course, I've been lucky two years in a row: I was in the safest place: the middle. >'^.^'< I'm a smart one. ~_^

Inara brought up a great point. She wishes she could through it with everything being turned off, just so she can see the rooms. They are really well-designed, and a lot of work has gone into them. However, going through it the way you're supposed to means not being able to admire the work because you're too busy trying to get out! One room that was apparently there last year that I don't remember is this macabre funny room where the Wicked Witch of the West is stirring a pot where a girl's legs are sticking out surrounded by a petticoat, and the feet are covered in the ruby slippers! A poster saying something about Dorothy is on the wall. A flying monkey jumps out and over the pot at the people walking through the room. It is a really cool room that, as I said, was apparently there last year, but I didn't notice it.

There are tons of details in each of these rooms. A lot of love and work went into them. I just wish I could take the time to appreciate them...instead, I'm usually hurrying to get out! LOL! ^_^;

After the Haunted House, we went home to watch the original "Prom Night." It was okay. It was really slow-moving in parts. There was a small kill count. That surprised me. I really thought there were more characters who could have been (and in some cases, should have been) killed. It wasn't really very scary. The most suspenseful death went to the most annoying character. I didn't like the ending. However, it wasn't a waste of my time either. I enjoyed making fun of it in parts. I'm glad I saw it, as it is a "classic" slasher movie. But I don't ever have to see it again.

The last thing we did as a group was watch one episode of "Supernatural." It was the first episode on the second disc of season three. "Sin City." I had already seen the episode, so I spent a lot of time working on my outline for my Nanowrimo story. That was the only episode all three of us watched. Mom started wilting, and Inara started fading during the next episode "Bedtime Stories." Both of them went to bed after that. I watched the next two episodes, "Red Sky at Morning" and "Fresh Blood," while finishing up my Nanowrimo outline. I now have all my characters, including quite a few minor characters I can use. I also know how many chapters this thing will be. Forty-nine chapters divided between four parts. o_O And the story's not completely done! That's only the beginning of it. I already know there is a sequel brewing. I should have known there would be. There's *always* a sequel brewing in my silly brain. o_O And this for a story that will never see the light of day! It disturbs *ME*! >.< Mostly, this story is practice: practice writing suspense and practice harming characters. I've never been able to do it before. And I have many stories where bad things happen to the main characters. Guess what? Those stories aren't done.

Oddly enough, I have few problems harming characters from other fandoms in fanfiction. o_O I think I have a problem. LOL!

Anyway, mom and I went shopping on Sunday. I got extras for my costume. Inara and I watched the first two episodes of season 10 of "Stargate: SG1". I love that show! I love Daniel! I love Vala! I love Daniel/Vala! LOL!
Then she left. I took a shower, then went to meet River. We went to this Irish pub in LoDo. I had my first hard cider. It was quite good. We were there for about five hours, just talking, as we usually do. We looked at pictures from NDK. She showed me pictures from a role-play she and her friends are doing. Very pretty pictures. The all-dangerous topic of politics was brought up at one point, but it was all right. At least, from my view, it was all right. I didn't feel uncomfortable, and I'm hoping she didn't. Then the conversation moved on. I have a fic brewing in my brain that's a cross-over between "Supernatural" and "Highlander." o_O I hate my brain sometimes.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. We have writer's group at my house on Friday. Unfortunately, no one posted, but that's okay. Maybe we can do more than one writing exercise. Or maybe take the time to free write our own stuff! I just sent an e-mail out to my writer's group with that suggestion. We'll see if it goes over. *I* think it's a good idea. I have loved the last two writer's group meetings I've gone to. The three of them fixed the issues, which is great. There's also very intelligent discussion going on. The only problem, and it's minor, is that Kaylee, Inara, and I think so much alike that critiquing can be hard. Thank goodness for our other member!

Saturday, Mom and I are going to this craft fair we go to every year. I just hope it doesn't rain *crosses fingers*. Or if it does, it starts after 1, when we will no longer be at the fair. It's family tradition to go to it every year. I love it. ^_^ Of course, my bank account does not love it so much...and neither does my mom's. LOL!

Anyway, already very anxious for Halloween! I wore a Halloween shirt on Saturday. I will be wearing another Wednesday. It will be October, and it will be fine. Also, this entry has taken me several days to write, so I now also have my tail and a petticoat to wear with my costume. At this point, I just need to spray paint the tail and figure out how to attach it to me. Whoo-hoo! I can't wait!!! ^_^
