yay! the life and times of susan the student teacher! Keep your chin up! great advice from above. not too much for me to add, esp since i don;t have too much teaching experiance, i'd probably be swearing and waving a big stick around. I dunno, even in high school i never understood why people would cheat, or turn in stuff late. i was always paranoid of getting a low grade. And, making stuff fun is the best! i remember those classes and teachers the most.
My one most stuck out memory of a fun teacher was in middle school english, 8th grade. the teacher was Mr. O'connel, he was tall and skinny and drove a classix VW beetle and had a stick for pointing and teaching. every friday we would have a quiz in the morning (of which he would come around and poke students in the side, which tickled and made me and others laugh). Then we would play "butt ball" where it would be boys vs the girls and he would ask us questions about friends and seinfield (which aired the previous night). if answered right we would get a ball and throw it at items on top of the chalkboard and try to knock them off. each item was worth a certain amount of points. at the end of the class whoever had the most points one.
Also- you feel this way because you care about your students and want them to succeed. Imagine what you would be like if you didn;t care. i wowuln't want to see that!
*lol* Wow, I didn't have teachers who did crazy things like that! That sounds like fun! And it's really awesome that you still remember his class so vividly. That totally gives me something to strive for, ya know? That's encouraging.
