Bent: Seattle was ready for another season. It had been two years since the end of its successful year long run, but not once had MBC let up about getting the boys back in the house. Once all five of them agreed to a reunion special, the network pulled out all the stops. The house had been renewed to sparkling cleanliness, fully renovated and ( Read more... )

Jimmy had no idea what time it was; his cell phone was dead, and he had never worn a watch in his life. Well, the sun was still up, so he couldn't be considered late. He carried the his bags slowly, wincing as he saw Daray bolt to the porch and begin to paw at the front door.
He better not scratch any paint... And no one better answer the door. Jimmy quickened his pace and opened the door, which Daray took no time to run in and start barking madly.
"Knock it off!" But the dog didn't hear him; he was already exploring the house to see what had changed since the last time, sniffing at things and occasionally barking.
Jimmy sighed and tried to close the door by tapping it with his foot; a bit too hard, he guessed, because it slammed loudly. He then began his journey up the stairs with the two heavy bags, hoping the dog would calm down soon.

After a few minutes of relative quiet, Hal concluded that whoever had just entered the house apparently wasn't going to come up to the third floor to check on the pool cues or anything, and got up off his bed with a sigh. However, he still wasn't going to expend any more precious bad sandwich energy than necessary. Sticking his head out the door, he simply called out, "HEY. Who's there?"

Jimmy had just made it to the door of his room when he heard Hal's voice. He dropped his bags right there and walked to the bottom of stairs leading to the third floor.
"Jimmy!" he shouted, cupping his hands around his mouth for added volume. "Is anyone else here?" It occured to him then that starting a conversation would lead to him never getting fully unpacked. And he still had to chase down that dog before someone else showed up.

Well, thought Hal, that was a bit of a relief. "NO, I--" He paused, then gave another exasperated sigh and leaned back against the door frame. "WELL, I'M NOT GOING TO STAND HERE AND HAVE A CONVERSATION THAT CONSISTS ENTIRELY OF SHOUTING."

"Ah! Hang on a minute then!" Jimmy quickly turned and ran back to his room, remembering the forgotten bags. He opened the door, and causally tossed the bags onto his bed. He would have to unpack them later.
He then back to the stairs, where Daray had recently appeared, and grabbed the doberman by the collar before he could dart off. He then hauled the dog to his room, and pulled him inside. Daray barked his head off the entire time, not enjoying this lack of freedom.
Now the next person who arrives doesn't have to worry about a surprise pounce attack.
Jimmy made sure to close the door completely behind him before he sprinted up the stairs to Hal's room.
"Okay, now we're not shouting," he said plainly.

"Apparently." Hal briefly glanced down the stairway to make sure that filthy dog wasn't going to be bounding into his room to attack him any time soon. "So, I haven't seen you in, what, three weeks?" he said, turning back to Jimmy with a little half-grin. "A little anticlimactic, us being the first two here. I imagine we don't have too much to catch up on."

"My apologies for not being the situation you had hoped for?" It was almost a question; Jimmy had no idea what kind of tone to portray with that remark.
He took a glance around Hal's room, everything seemed to be organized and in place. He assumed that Hal had been here for a while; either that, or he was the fastest unpacker in all of Seattle.
"Uh... so, how have you been doing? Better...? Hopefully not worse?" He tried not to sound as if he was fussing over him, but his concerned look gave him away.

"Oh, yes, everything's been going well," Hal said as reassuringly as possible, having successfully avoided responding to the first question. "Don't have to go in again for a few months, thank god." He ran his fingers through his hair absentmindedly. "It's, uh... well, you know, the hair's pretty good now, right? You can hardly notice the scar anymore unless you're standing right over me and examining me for lice or something."

"Yeah, tons better than before. Not that it was bad before, it was that it was obvious before, like... obvious you had had some sort of surgery and..." he stopped, knowing he was going absolutely nowhere with that sentence.
"It looks a lot better than before. I didn't even see the scar until you started running your fingers through your hair." He stated it as boldly as possible, trying not to trail off into another bit of babble.

"Okay, well, that's good," Hal said, moving to his desk and picking up a pile of papers, which he then proceeded to file in one of the desk drawers. "So I take it the dog's back again?"

"Uh yeah... he's in my room right now though, I don't want him jumping on anyone who might arrive soon," he laughed a little nervously, scratching the back of his head. "He's actually better behaved than he was before, but it's just that he hasn't been here in so long, and the place has changed so much that it's like some new exploring ground to him or something."
He sighed before continuing. "He'll calm down soon enough. And I promise he won't get into your things, etc."

"Glad you remember the rules." Hal frowned for a second upon realizing that he was missing May's telephone bill, and made a mental note to get to the bottom of this case later on. "So..."
