Trevor = Out of Touch

Okay, so I just watched the Rifftrax for Raiders of the Lost Ark. I've never actually seen any of the Indiana Jones movies before now (the brief snippets I had seen never held any real interest for me) and I didn't really have high expectations going in. For the most part those low expectations were met and up until the ending it came off as a silly, but passable, action film (I won't bother going into the incredibly lame ending as that's a whole other topic).

When the movie was over, I popped on to Flixster to do a mini-review (as I generally do with all movies once I watch them) and I was a bit surprised to see the movie was so highly rated. I then checked out the movie's IMDB entry and I was astonished to see that not only is it highly rated there, it's actually ranked #16 on the IMDB Top 250. Now admittedly, watching the movie with the rifftrack running may have negatively colored my perception of the film to a degree, but I don't see how Raiders could be considered Top 250 material (let alone be so highly ranked). The lameness of the ending alone should have been enough to keep it from attaining such high ratings.

Am I way off base here? Is Raiders of the Lost Ark actually a great movie? If so, could someone kindly explain to me exactly how it qualifies as such? Because I'm at a loss here.
