back in november, i bought a Remembrance Crocus Blooming Kit from trader joe's. i thought it could brighten up my dorm room. when i got home, i opened it and read the instructions.
step 1. refrigerate for 8 weeks.
what the fuck. doesn't the word kit indicate that this is growing made easy, no work or patience involved? i responsibly put the bulbs in my mini-fridge, and two days ago, i executed
step 2. nestle the broad base of bulb into the decorative riverstones.
and
step 3. fill the vase with water.
the crocuses are expected to bloom in 3-6 weeks, and i can already see the roots growing. i'm still a bit creeped out as i just read middlesex, and the title character calls their ambiguous genitalia a crocus.
