chicago lakefront air & water show, part one
on a saturday, eating waffles with nutella. emil, my long-legged roommate and the 1500m bulgarian national champion, starts stretching next to me.
"hey, I'm heading to the air & water show with some friends. -- wanna come with us?"
"oh yeah, sure! are you driving?"
"uh, no... we're running, and one girl is biking."
"hmm." it's about 8 miles away.
"ok!"
after a harried search for my keys, i get my bike out of the back room, turn the corner... and there's emil and his friends, stretching and looking quite hardcore, with the one bike rider clad only in spandex. an oh, shit moment.
the next part of the story is just too painful and embarrassing to tell. i'll just say that i'm terribly out of shape, and emil's friends are not.

emil is the one with the shirt. and seriously, to reiterate how non-serious i am about biking: I don't even wear a helmet. and my bike has a basket at the front. this woman had the shoes specially for biking! she was really nice, but i couldn't help being in awe.

i tried auto-levels on the original, and poof, it just came out like this, and i felt like a huge hack because i doubt i would've been able to produce such an effect myself.
