periodic irony (long time since we've had one of those, eh?): fireboats.
my cousin took us around yonsei and the area around it. but bc he's a mama's boy, he really knows nothing about seoul. or even about yonsei university outside of the computer science building.
"whoa, i didn't know this statue was here."
"oppa do you really go to this school?"
classic sheltered korean kid. when i recounted this to my grandmother, she said,
"well, he is yamjun (tame, nice). not wild like you."
buuuuuuuut we had a good time. mama's boys bother me, that's all.

i wanted to visit itaewon. i don't know, i keep on reading that it's a bad neighborhood but all i saw was a greater incidence of foreign restaurants and lots of antique shops. so we headed to this park in front of the han river. the han river is to seoul as is the charles river to boston. only seoul is huge.

OKAY, so we go up to namsan tower where you can see pretty much all of seoul. in normal weather. but we had prety much the worst luck and couldn't see anything at all. so we went up to this motherfucking swank restaurant and we're like damn, let's eat. only the prix-fixe menu (with only like, 5 options) is fucking 64000 won per person = about $64 for each person. and my cousin's a nice guy and i guess his mother gave hima lot of money so he insists we eat. the whole meal fucking cost about 227 total. for 3 people!!! it was not that great and i felt sick thinking about how much money it cost. and this soup looks nice but it was actually quite watery.
