Dave and I have been talking about buying a car for a while now. We both have functional cars and some people think that as long as they are functional we shouldn't buy a new car. Our goal was to save up enough money to buy the car outright. No payments, no interest, no worries. The only problem is then you are dropping $20,000 on a band new car in one lump sum. Tends to make your bank account hurt a little bit.
Dave was at work yesterday and found out that we could get a brand new torrent with 0% APR for up to five years. My mom recently got a torrent and we really like hers and that is the car that I would love to get. Now we are thinking we might buy it. It is almost surreal for me. All of a sudden, we are talking about buying a brand new car. We are talking about it being able to hold car seats and fit baby strollers and pack and plays and all of these other things. It is almost like buying this new car would put a staple into our adulthood. Some of the guys at Dave's work think we should wait until we can buy it on our own. But it's easy to forget about the worry that comes with owning used cars. This would be a big step for both of us.
Pros~
BRAND NEW CAR
BRAND NEW CAR
Car that we want
More family friendly than we have
Huge warrenty!!
Making payments vs one lump sum purchase
Adjustable seats
Car payments still fit with overall budget we have established
Cons~
Debt
Parking it in an apartment parking lot
Monthly payments
It is a big decision. EEK! I really love this car and it is a car that I could see us growing into a family with. It is a car that we could keep for 10 years or more. It would take that worry of off of our hands. It would put us one step closer to being ready for a family. I think we just might do it!! I hope we can make it all work!! Oh boy oh boy!
