A Pittsburgh home..

Since returning home from Paris about a week and a half ago I've been trying to enjoy my life in Pittsburgh more. I will be here for the next year most-likely since my original plans didn't pan out, like so many plans don't. I've been hanging out more than usual, visiting some old favorite places, visiting new places, and trying out new recipes.

I went to the Brain Handle/Midnite Snake show, but only saw Brain Handle before heading home since I was still really jet-lagged. I went to the last FLAK/Metallion/Witchhunt show out in Braddock. Watching FLAK surrounded by good friends was just like things used to be. Also I went to Roboto for a some-what-failed show and saw a new local band and PS. Although attendance was ridiculously poor, it was a lot more fun than I had expected.

As far as old favorites, I went to Tram's for like the first time in a year with some high-school-era friends. Still really freaking good. Also I've been spending some time at the 61C which is probably my favorite coffee establishment in Pgh right now.

I've discovered a bunch of new awesome food places lately too. A few days after getting home from Paris I had lunch with one of my housemates at Crepes Parisiennes in Oakland. Not the same as in France but still pretty delicious. I had some awesome Peaches & Creme ice cream at the Banana Stand. Last night I went out for drinks at the Harris Grill... It's kinda sad that I am 22 and basically have never really gone out much in this city. Tonight I had amazing (vegan) Green Tea ice cream with raspberries mixed in.

I tried to make my first peach pie.. but unfortunately failed. I was in a rush and it ended up undercooked and watery. I was very disappointed because I had sprung for organic peaches and was planning on making it for my parents. Today I made (vegan) Mexican Hot Chocolate cookies. They turned out pretty well, but the recipe could use a bit of tweaking. Still chocolate + spicy = pretty awesome.

Oh and I guess I've been reading a ton. I am in the middle of 3 books which need to be finished and have a few more lined up. I also read a dreaded self-help motivational/productivity book...but I don't feel like it helped me too much.

So for now I'm working on applying for jobs and trying to decide which photos I want to try to submit to National Geographic.
But now I am tired, so good night.
