Day 17 - Favourite mini series

Stephen King's It, from 1990. I had never read any King before watching this, and it just totally opened my eyes to all the light horror/supernatural/geeky things I like to this very day. I read the book almost immediately afterward, and then went on to read almost all his major novels throughout the rest of high school. I remember distinctly reading It during a holiday break from school, spending days at a time curled up on the living room sofa with that giant tome. That was probably the longest book I'd ever read up to that point, perhaps runner-up only to Gone with the Wind. Later, I read The Stand, and that book took me an entire three-month summer to finish.

Essentially, that miniseries made me want to read more, and it roundaboutedly made me want to be a writer, really. The miniseries itself was pretty awesome, too, and just cemented for me again that Tim Curry can do no wrong. Plus, wee tiny Seth Green!
