Turn, bend, jab, spin, point

The choreography is burned into his memory. He recites the moves as Hyunseung executes them one by one, perfectly. All angles and jutting bones, his movements are smooth and calculated from endless hours of practice. Not yet, not good enough yet. He repeats the moves over and over, sharp eyes catching every flaw in his reflection.

Twist, stop, sway, bend

Stumble.

He meets the floor with a dull thunk and chooses to stay there, groaning and wiping the sweat out of his eyes. Junhyung feels his lips pull into a smirk, as much as he tries to suppress it.

"C'mon," he sighs. "Take a break." He rolls a water bottle across the gleaming wooden floor. If Hyunseung notices it bump against his arm, he doesn't show it. His chest heaves, slowing gradually as the minutes tick past.

These easy silences, quiet moments between only them, are familiar. Something in the way Junhyung is okay being around Hyunseung when he thinks he wants to be alone, is so familiar. Hyunseung's shaggy black hair falling into his large eyes reminds him of another face with shaggy black hair and large eyes. Such similar and yet entirely distinct faces, with similar yet distinct feelings behind them.

"Junhyung, we need to leave." Black hair, large eyes, begging him. His stomach flips and he looks away.

"I know. We will." But he doesn't, not yet.

Junhyung wonders if maybe Hyunseung's fallen asleep there on the practice room floor. Oh well, he hasn't gotten more than three hours of sleep in at least a week. His dark hair covers his eyes, lips slightly parted in his deep breathing.

"Junhyung, I'm leaving." Those eyes, still begging and there's something more desperate this time.

"I know." But he isn't ready yet, so he lets him go. He leaves the next day though he knows he's too late.

"Junhyung." He blinks, and Hyunseung is in front of him, waving an empty plastic bottle in before his nose. Dark circles under his eyes, he grins. "If you're tired, you can head back before me." Junhyung snorts.

"And let Doojoon blame me for the fact you don't come back until after dawn? Hell no." Hyunseung flings the empty bottle at his chest, walking back onto the dance floor.

"Then get out here and practice. We need to keep going, Junhyung."

He blinks at that dark hair, those round, demanding eyes- familiar, and yet entirely different.
