It's very exciting! Back in the spring, when I was there for the first couple of shows, one of the Elves was all, "BTW DT'S GONNA BE HERE IN A COUPLA WEEKS YOU'RE GONNA STILL BE HERE RITE?" And I was like, "OMGWTF NO. THX FOR RUINING MY LIFE. THX." :D
I've BEEN excited (and eager, and impatient) ever since the last series ended. Damn waiting.
I've known about Tennant for while (since I can't help reading spoilers on the QI blog), but I got no less a thrill on actually seeing him in the preview. I feel that come Christmas, I may spontaneously combust, what with him on QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and of course, the actual Doctor Who specials. Sigh.
I was thinking about that one on my list and your no comment-ness today. I never did get the story on that (if there is a story). If you want to tell it, I'd love to hear it (and if you don't, I'll mind m'business).
I think my dislike of JV is one part not understanding a word he says, and one part just not getting the persona he takes on. Because on the one hand, a lot of the things he's said are not really more offensive than some of the stuff, say, Jimmy Carr says. But with Jimmy, I feel like there are plenty of cues that his persona is, well, a persona, and one that he's very carefully crafted. Whereas with JV it seems a bit half-assed. I dunno. (my over-analysis, let me show you it)
Oh aye, there's a story. I'll PM you on Twitter because I happen to have another tab open.
Yeah, the combination of his accent and his voice can lead to incomprehensibility. I think he sort of combines the Merton-y flight of fancy with a Mitchell-esque spot on observation about the world, like a "wisdom of babes" thing. It's not quite a persona, just an outlook on life, very lackadaisical. It might not always work, but I tell you, I cried wet, wet tears of laughter when he was on last series with Pam Ayers.

N'aww, I always forget that you don't like JV. I think he's quite an endearing dude.
