Things that Piss Me Off and something that doesn't

And now for a rant...

I have a nice next door neighbor who has a friend who lives across the street. This guy turned out to be the guy who anonymously snowblowed my driveway all winter.

Unfortunately, this guy has no concept of how loud music can be. None. Ever since he started hanging with my next door neighbor, he's been over there more than he's been at his own house and whenever his nephew is there, the music gets cranked annoyingly loud.

My next door neighbor's sliding door sits open without a screen and the stereo that is inside gets turned up so loud I can hear it inside my house an othe farthest side of the house through walls. Loud enough to identify the song and hear the treble perfectly.

Nephew was over in early spring on one of the nice days and they were cranking the music. Not even in the yard closes to the source of the music. They were smoking on the steps around a corner and about 30 feet away. I asked politely to turn it down. They did.

Yesterday, as I was about to leave for painting group, the music was again ungodly loud, but i was leaving so I didn't complain. No one was outside to complain to if I had been planning to stay home.

I got home around 10PM. Next door neighbor, guy, guy's nephew, and other people were outside enjoying a fire, talking, and playing music at a reasonable volume. No big deal. I put my bike away and went inside to catch up on the flurry of emails. Ay 11PM the music got ungodly loud, playing "Spirit in the Sky" by Bob Dylan, not the cover version. I could hear this easily in the computer room, the farthest room away through a closed door and walls. Not the time. 11:00 PM.

I walked over to the party and asked them to please turn it down. They did, but one of the people I didn't know told me a friend died and that this was his song. Yeah, whatever. It's 11PM and I can hear your music in every room of my house as if it were my own stereo.

I went inside and went to bed. Just as I was drifting off to sleep, I heard guy calling me through my window from outside. Goddamn! I was trying to sleep! All lights are off. It's after 11PM. I got up and yelled through the window. "What?"

"What did I ever do to you?"

"What?"

"Come outside, I just want to talk."

"The music was too loud." (I looked at my watch. 11:30 PM) "It's 11:30 at night!"

"Come out to your front porch, let's talk."

(grumble grumble grumble) I went downstairs. It IS easier to tell someone how inconsiderate they are being when you're not yelling through an open window at someone you can't see.

I got downstairs and he had been yelling from MY NEIGHBOR'S YARD. How many other people did he annoy with that while WAKING ME UP? He told me he moved the party inside and started rambling on about a variety of topics that have no bearing on the fact that he was playing loud music at 11:00 PM.

I told him three times that I don't have a problem with parties, music, but I don't want to hear the music perfectly clearly on the opposide side of my house. It's too loud and it's 11:00 PM. He brought up some megagathering across the street that I slept through last night and didn't even notice. Whatever. Apparently it annoyed the neighbor two houses down and he called the cops. I told guy I'd have done the same if they woke me up at 3AM as he was claming this party went on until. Dude, the drunk guy passed out on your steps has NO BEARING ON THE FACT THAT YOUR NEPHEW OR WHOEVER WAS PLAYING MUSIC RIDICULOUSLY LOUD AT 11:00 PM! Plus, it was cold, and I wanted to go inside, so I said, "It's 11:30. It's cold. I'm going to bed." and went inside.

That's two warnings.

So I went to sleep and had a weird dream about belly dancing. I was at a restaurant I'd never been to before. philady and I were both dancing there. She went on, I was getting ready for my set. Then it was my turn and I was trying to find the person to turn my music in to, found that person, handed over the music, walked through the kitchen, heard the people in the kitchen saying how the previous dancer (philady!) was awesomely good. I woke up just before I went on.

Interesting to have that kind of dream after philady auditioned at Cruise and the day before the Aalim School summer hafla.
