I feel obligated to write this after yesterday's Bills game. If you do the wave at a sporting event you are a not a sports fan. Not only are you being annoying and stupid to all of those sitting behind you trying to focus on the game, but you can't be an active viewer of the contest if you're watching other people stand up and sit down and waiting for your turn to do it. One sportscaster called the wave a way for women and children to have something to do during a game. Obviously this is sexist, but his point is that it's not for people who actually enjoy watching football or sports in general. The wave is a way for fans to make the game about themselves, when, in fact, it is not. You either need a huge ego or a small attention span to be a participant. Unfortunately, it's usually both in this case. I loved that the Bills were running the no huddle offense which requires a QB being able to communicate with his teammates and the HOME FANS are making noise while doing the wave. Way to be a home-field disadvantage. Making noise when the home team is on offense is a fool's errand. If you find yourself yelling "go offense" during the QB's cadence or doing the wave ever, you're not a good sports fan, and you probably sit in my section.
