(no subject)
So, sort of surprised nobody has mentioned much of the hurricane on livejournal or in school. This is a pretty big thing and i think it is sort of funny how nobody has really been talking about it.
It is sad what has happened, but all I can say is...y'all had it coming. If citizens of New Orleans and its mayor have known that the city would be royally screwed if it was ever hit by anything bigger than a category 3 storm, and yet they do nothing...it is their own fault. When we went there for band, the tour bus people were joking that the city would be destroyed if it ever got hit by a storm. You don't laugh about something like that and not try to fix it. I even saw a lady from New Orleans today on TV who was wondering the same thing. Whatever...i'm not saying it isn't a terrible thing that has happened either.
I think that this could truly be the end of New Orleans as we all knew it. You can't evacuate a city for 4 months and expect it to be the same as it was ever again. I think that New Orleans could become a city of the past, something our children will ask about. I mean, could you put your life on hold for 4 months just sitting in a SuperDome or shelter, waiting to restart your life?
I couldn't...i would have to move on.
yeah, and school started. It sucks, but at least this is definately the last year of high school.
