Last night we went to see
Quartet at Reading Film Theatre. We were, without question, the youngest members of the audience. Ahem. I did rather enjoy the performances of Billy Connolly and Tom Courtenay; it was difficult to engage with Maggie Smith's or Michael Gambon's characters particularly sympathetically. At least they all got to be drama queens and luvvies by design on this occasion. I heard somewhat mixed reviews of this film when it was released, and I think that's probably about right. It's certainly not a bad film by any means; but whilst I wasn't expecting an action thriller, it did perhaps feel a bit laboured at times.
