Lake & I ran into Jerry Garcia one night at a gallery opening in early 1995. She told him how in the early 80s she had come from Japan as a tourist, went to her first Grateful Dead show and never went back. His response to her was "I'm so sorry". I mentioned to her that in February in Hawaii there was a huge seminar/celebration of the 50th anniversary of the one visit the founder of aikido made to the USA. It happened the organizers had a business mtg scheduled to discuss final accounting the very day the news of the earthquake was made. They were shocked to discover they had actually made a profit, of $25,000. They voted unanamously to send every penny to the Red Cross for Japan earthquake relief.
