Still alive. Shocking, I know.
But learning that no good deed goes unpunished. Apparently, standing up to a raging bigot in the workplace in a polite but firm way means I am "dismissive", "trying to censor", and a bully. Said raging bigot did nothing wrong in making multiple vicious comments about other groups, but I am wrong for correcting her and wrong for REPORTING IT to the supervisor since it is a major violation of University policy. Since she did not attack me directly (just made gross and vile comments about other groups), I have no right to complain and am a bad, bad person.
Yes, I did break chain of command by going over direct supervisor's head to the boss. But you know what? Considering that I got chewed out and essentially called a bully for calling the bigot out politely, I have every reason to have doubt in their ability to put aside their favoritism for a second and actually do their damn job. So yes, I went to someone that would actually take the complaint seriously.
I hate my life sometimes.
