Oh, I'm sore. Very sore.
I was sick as hell late last week and then tested for 5th Kyu on Saturday. Testing is after class, and the last thing we did was some randori (multiple attacker) against some of the senior students. Basically this means three people go out and run at the person in the middle and get thrown around by said person.
I went out twice, which, in retrospect was a mistake.
I started really running out of juice about halfway through. I was pacing myself, doing a pretty good job of blending and being smooth. Once I started getting really tired, I missed a few techniques, but, fortunately, I didn't have any energy to get flustered.
Sensei gave me a brief breather (less than a minute) before my randori, which somehow I made it through too. All in all, it went pretty well, although I'm told I was a bit greyish at the end.
eltiana tested Saturday too; she had a very good test was well, though got a bit tired near the end too.
Most of my soreness seems to be in my shoulders and legs, which makes sense if you know how aikido works. Because I'm a junky, or aikidoholic as sensei puts it, I'm going to class to day. Usually we do weapons on Sunday... I have a feeling my shoulders are going to be protesting greatly at swinging a wooden sword or staff.
So, there's the olbigatory aikido news, with a footnote not to test two days after a bad Crohn's Disease flare up unless you want to see what you look like with grey skin.
Work's been pretty crazy. For those that don't know, I work for Bank One and we just got acquired by JP Morgan Chase. So, in addition to the normal craziness, we occasionally get pulled off to do something for some manager for some meeting about said merger.
I'm so looking forward to being a cog in an every bigger machine. :-p
Roleplaying's been great. We're starting a second game on Sundays (every other), which begins today. From the sounds of the personalities we four players have come up with, the interpersonal play alone should be great. We've gotten hints about what the Storyteller,
mistress_madora, has in store for us too. Very much looking forward to playing today.
My enthusiasm spilled over into my cooking and I'm making a bunch of food for this afternoon (which I need to go finish the prep for when I'm done writing this). Variously seasoned meats and veggies with some appropriate cheese rolled up in a pesto-y sort of bread and baked. I need to come up with a better name for it than 'meat rolls', which, well... you're all imaginative. ;-) People seem to always love them despite the lame name. I'll probably post the recipes later.
