Title: Christmas the Way it Should Be
Author: Tena
Pairing: Brian/Justin, Gus
Warning: Fluff
Summary: Brian has a change in attitude.

Brian grumbled as he watched as Gus and Justin decorated the Christmas tree. The holiday meant little to him as his memories of Christmas were less than merry. He sat at his desk looking over the latest art boards his firm was working on for the spring sales of his latest client. Hearing Gus giggle, he looked up to see his 7 year old son laughing at Justin dancing to the Christmas music playing. Brian couldn’t help but grin as Gus began dancing, wiggling his little butt to the music.

Propping his chin on his hand, he continued to watch them dance around the Christmas tree adding ornaments as they did. He thought about how much his life had changed since these two came into his life, on the same night. Now, Brian was not a religious man, but he had to admit it had to be more than coincidence that the two most important people to him showed up at the same time. And, they had each taught him so much about really living and so much about love. He now believed, for the most part, that he was worthy of love; that he could love and be loved. Justin had helped him understand that the deep soul searing love they shared was worth all the risks that came with it.

Justin saw Brian watching them with a slight grin on his face, so he bent down and whispered in Gus’ ear. The boy smiled brightly, took the box Justin handed him and walked over to Brian.

“Hey, Sonny Boy, whatcha got there?” Brian asked as he pulled Gus on his lap.

“We have all the ornaments on the tree except this one. Will you put it on for me?”

“What is it?” Brian wondered why Justin hadn’t let Gus put on the ornament.

Opening the box, Gus handed it to his dad. “It’s the star for the top, Daddy,” Gus said as he hopped off Brian’s lap and took his hand, pulling him towards the tree.

Brian stood in front of the tree, star in hand and looking at the beautiful faces of Justin and Gus. Both were so angelic and so unconditionally loving it was overwhelming. Justin touched his arm, getting his attention and smiled at him. Knowing he was not into the holiday or the decorating, Justin reached to take the star from him.

Shaking his head, Brian kissed Justin. “I got this, Sunshine,” he said and climbed the step ladder. With one glance at his guys standing below watching him eagerly, he placed the star on the top of the tree. Once he was back on the ground, he walked behind the tree and plugged in the star.

Gus cheered as the lights glowed from the star. “Yay, Daddy look how pretty,” he said excitedly as Brian picked him up and put his arm around Justin.

“It’s beautiful,” Justin whispered.

Brian smiled at the huge tree Justin and Gus had decorated. Seeing Gus’ bright smile and his eyes wide with amazement, and of course, Justin’s smile that earned him his nickname, Brian could do nothing but agree.

“Yeah, it is.” Brian could feel the emotions welling up and for once didn’t try to hide them. This was how it was supposed to be and thanks to Justin and Gus, his holidays would always be perfect.

The tears finally fell down his cheek when Gus leaned in and whispered in his ear. “Merry Christmas, Daddy.”

Brian kissed his cheek and blew a raspberry on his neck causing his son to laugh. “Merry Christmas, Sonny Boy. I love you.”

“Love you, Daddy.”

“Love you too, Sunshine,” brian said, his voice full of emotion.

Justin was so overwhelmed at Brian’s show of emotion he could hardly speak. He could feel that something had just changed for Brian. “Love you…forever, Brian. Merry Christmas.”
