Make slash not war

Hi guys,

I had quite a few questions about smexy (porny-smutty-erotica-etc) writings and what works best or what people prefer to read, write etc but after reading some sites and consulting with fellow fan-friends the list of Qs is almost done.

I would still like to know what are people's preferences when it comes to QAF fics that have sex scenes and ( Read more... )

preferences, writing is hard, writing advice

I got into an argument before with someone over fanfic that they tried to tell me was an 'emotional journey for Brian'. I finally asked them where, just the fuck (pardon my language) where Brian had time to have an emotional journey when all that was happening was massive amounts of sex. Unless the emotional journey came into play by Brian continually thinking the person he was fucking at the time was 'the hottest person like ever! OMG!' I failed to see where any emotional development came into play because unless there was talk about food and/or showers the rest of the time they were having sex. Hence my comment earlier to at least admit that's what you are writing, don't sugarcoat it.

However, I've learned (and still relearn this from time to time because apparently I forget) that we all read into things differently. I may see something as xyz and someone else may read it as abcdefomgsidetripextrastuffsghikjl.

There also has been at least one time where I later stumbled upon real porn and the scene I watched felt exactly like something someone else wrote for fanfic. (Especially when it came to the whole bondage/humilation play.) Even what the Dom said to the sub was exactly the same with the exception of names.

Now, granted porn isn't very original to begin with, but that was the weirdest thing that ever happened to me. (Okay, so I probably had weirder stuff happen, but it's up there considering the situation.) It's kind of awkward when you have to explain that no, you aren't crazy but you swear you've experienced that scene before in another medium before breaking down and showing them what you mean.

Holy tricks, that sounds really boring with just loads of sexsexsex and some more seeeeeeeex. Hmmm, I am pretty sure I haven't read this emo journey nor will I if it can be avoided. lol

Hmm, I am no shrink or psychologist but I guess in a way Brian is fucking not only for the sake of fucking itself but to 'say' to the rest of the world (mostly his parents and society, even the LGBT community) to fuck off of his case with telling him who and what to be/fuck and what is moral/acceptable blah blah blah. But to actually go and make an entire book out of Brian's tricking doesn't strike me as 'making Brian's statment obvious or a life-changing epiphany while in somebody's ass'. AHEM.

Oh My BDSM, that is hillarious!!! Transcribing actual porn. FACEPALM.

Pets you. The fandom's ways are mysterious indeed.

I always figured Brian's massive 'fuck you' to all of those people was the fact that not only was he a successful business man, he managed to 'be the stud', and he lived the way he wanted to.

Something that always struck me as interesting in the show that despite Brian's remarks against relationships he seemed to be the one that most members of the 'gang' ran to when they had issues and many times had solid advice to offer then. (Maybe not always put in the most 'kind' way, but majority of the time he offered reasonable solutions to their problems.)

And yet, 'he' didn't know what he was doing. ;)

EXACTLY!!!

Oh, I used to stomp my foot like a baby when I'd see Mel and/or Linds preching to him...AHEM...hellouuuu, they both cheated/lied etc to eachother how many times? Always some issues with their 'commitment' and he always somehow helped even if it was done in a 'flippant' way.

;)
