Like many of us here on AC, I have been glued to the radio and TV all day waiting to hear of any change in the Pope's condition...As a gay man, I'm not sure why this is affecting me so much...Maybe it's because I hate to see another human being suffer.
My heartfelt hope for him is that he dies a peaceful death. Seeing him on the news over Easter in such agony broke my heart. While I may not agree with him on the Church's viewpoint on homosexuality and am not a practising Catholic, I respect him enough to want him to die with dignity.
I don't believe that there will be any miraclous recovery or that he will even survive...I'm not saying I don't believe in the power of miracles, just that it's time for the world to let him go with love, respect and dignity.
As I sit on the beach here in Hawaii, in the beauty of the world that God has given to all of us, I will remember what the Pope has done for not only the Catholic Church, but for the world at large..I may not have agreed with him on some issues, but now I realise how important he really was...I was thinking of re-reading "Angels And Demons" as I am a huge fan of Dan Brown and just adored the "Da Vinci Code"...Think I might to remember what an important man "Il Papa" was to us all.
