Hmm. Not necessarily. If you're an American who is around Brits a lot, sometimes lift and flat creep into everyday speech. Now someting like "boot" for trunk, not so much. :)
True. When I lived in England the first time, I eventually started saying we were going 'down to the pub' and not 'out for a beer' because that's what everyone else said.
