The main issue I took was about Mikey's utter blankness regarding Brian's feelings for his son, as was so clearly apparent in canon 512. And of Mel's bitterness towards Brian, also evidenced in canon 512. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew I was writing Mikey talking about B/J. Perhaps, I did take an extreme look at it but honestly speaking, there are times when these people can be very very blind towards Brian.
You're right, some of them, like Mikey, can perhaps 'come around' eventually, but this was not a time like that. I also am kind of fed up of stories that show post-513 Brian and Michael acting like s1-2 Brian and Michael. And it seems I see tons of such stuff in rpgs and stories these days. All that animosity that happened between them in that last season.... I don't think they could have as easily gotten over it as the last scene of 513 showed it. Yes, Michael would always love Brian in his own way but I can't buy that they would go BACK to the same place they were at before they got against each other. Not for long at least. After the initial euphoria of Babylon reopening is over, reality would set in. And my post-513 thoughts don't go the way of B/M as the BFF they used to be.
This thing had been brewing inside me ever since S5 ended and I'd been dying to get it out of my system. This story was my outlet. :)
