Hmmm

If there were such a thing as bad luck ...

... My apartment bedroom flooded in a freak accident. After morning practice, I went to take a nap intending to wake up for the 10:30 scrum I have with my business partner. I didn't fall into a deep sleep, and was somewhat tranced out, half-assed meditating. I heard what sounded like someone walking up (but I'm not sure) and then sound of someone running water. I think, oh, someone turning on the spigot or something. Maybe I should go check. Nah.

When the alarm clock rang, I hit the snooze, and then waited 'till the last minute before popping up about 1 min before 1030 ... onto wet carpet.

The look on the assistant property manager's face was priceless when I said, "maintenance emergancy" and "my carpet is flooded". They sent some guys out there nearly immediately and figured out the problem, called in a carpet guy to come fix it. He had to move all of my stuff from my bedroom and my closet and shove them somewhere. He's stripping the carpet and the padding right now and vacuuming the bare floor.

Irony of ironies, the guy who turned on the outside water spigot was another carpet guy from the same company.

And after the latest Gentoo update, my rock-steady Azureus (bittorrent client) is broken. They renamed the package Vuze, and Vuze 4.0 and 4.1 for some weird ass reason I have yet to phathom, has problems reading the network socket. It will do HTTP fine, according to the test. Yet it cannot hit the tracker, it randomly drops packets. I know it isn't Comcast, since I tried it through my ssh tunnel to an outside box.

Downgrading Vuze back to Vuze 3 failed, since the ebuild refused to work with SWT-3.4. So now, I have to pop open the Portage Overlay and I'm wading through ebuild documentations trying to figure out how to write my own. I've always wanted to figure this stuff out anyways ... I just never thought I'd do it just so I can satisfy my anime addiction.

Yes, Universe, I hear You Laughing.

Namaste
