Alexander: Perhaps (triple drabble)

Mar 20, 2006 13:46

I'm in the midst of writing a multi-part Alexander original story, and I'm in desperate need of help. I'm not so much looking for a proof reader (although I wouldn't object to one, since my grammar is questionable at best), as I'm looking for a plot monkey. I want to write a What-If: What if Alexander married before leaving Macedon, and had a son? What would change and what wouldn't?

So, I need someone with a good grasp of history, but isn't wedded to it, since I will be changing a few things. I also need someone to bonk me over the head to continue writing, since I'm lazy and get unmotivated easily. So, if you think you fit those two requirements, and would like to help this poor, non-spelling author, tell me and I will lavish you will kisses and e-mails :)

And now I'm crossing my fingers that at least one person will volunteer.

Here's something I've had laying around for awhile, but that I forgot to post, since I'm retarded.

Perhaps
Author: Qaddafi the Ripper
Summary: Triple drabble (300 words exactly, because I am that anal) for moon71. When did Hephaistion fall in love with Alexander?

Hephaistion wondered sometimes when it was that he first loved Alexander. Of times it seemed that he had always loved Alexander. There had been a time, though, when they did not know each other, so his love must have had some starting point.

Perhaps it began at their very first meeting, when Hephaistion had been devastated by golden smiles and a burning spirit. Perhaps it had taken a few more meetings, to the point when he realized that Alexander thought him a friend too. Perhaps it had been the first time they had competed against each other; Hephaistion had won and had been worried that Alexander would hate him forever for it, but Alexander had been pleased that Hephaistion would not hold back for the prince’s pride, and they knew each other as equals. Perhaps it had been when they went off to Mieza together, and Hephaistion was only there because of Alexander’s insistence. Perhaps it was the first time Alexander let him read one of Olympias’s letters, and epistle full of vitriol that disturbed Hephaistion down to his toes; but it disturbed Alexander just as much, and Hephaistion liked to know that he was needed. Perhaps it happened whenever Alexander defended him so surely against those who spoke against him. Perhaps it happened when Aristotle spoke of the highest form of love between two friends and got Hephaistion to thinking. Perhaps it had happened when Alexander told him he was his dearest friend.

Or perhaps again he fell in love anew every time he turned to see Alexander beside him, smiling.

And perhaps none of that was important. He loved Alexander now, he would follow Alexander wherever he might go, he would defend Alexander to his dying breath, and nothing and no one was going to change that, ever.
