Been busy studying, watching DMC and canoing. (Mostly the first, alas.) So, more pseudo tweets and pics now!
9:30 - Got up early to go to the supermarket we discovered yesterday. It's open now so we bought some wine, (Italian) beer and snacks! :D
10:58 - In front of San Marco now. Looking at the queue which goes all the way back to the entrance of the Doge's Palace, reserving online was a very good idea! (Also, it's free! Very uncommon..)
11:15 - Back outside. Texted whaiwhai again, but still no answer. :(
12:15 - Bought fresh coconut on the way to Rialto bridge. So delicious! One of the reasons I love Italy!
12:27 - The Tabacchi shop woman tells me they don't have any stamps for Europe but that there's a post office just down the street. In Italian. Seemingly, my Italiano was convincing. Yay me. ;) (Usually, I am answered in English.)
13:24 - On the way South to Dorsoduro, we just stumbled upon the Casa di Goldini which we were planning to see anyway. Library's already closed for siesta but we can see the upper rooms. Very cute, very accomplished marionettes.
13:58 - We finally got to ride a Gondola! For only 50c! (Gondola rides are 80€ or more.) It was only a traghetto though ^^"
14:32 - Took the vaporetto to Accademia and walked North to San Barnaba. The guestbook at the da Vinci exhibition says "Don't waste your time here" and similarly nice things. :(
15:11 - Found a Billa! Bought a huge bready thing, butter and cheese and now prepare it, sitting on the steps of a nearby bridge. Everyone's staring :P We're not that weird, right?
15:32 - Haha, we were just finished when a guy from the cafe next to the bridge came out and offered us ketchup XD
16:00 - Just bought two masks at a shop we found earlier when it just closed for siesta. Yay for souvenirs! Even if masks are so cliché here :P
16:32 - Checking bus timetables and pricing at Piazzale Roma. Wow, the bus to the airport is a lot cheaper (2.50 instead of 13) than the boat! And quicker, too.
18:15 - Late siesta, sooooo tired.
21:07 - Sitting on a paddle boat at the beach, drinking warmish self-mixed Radler (our fridge doesn't cool, apparently) and watching the last bits of daylight disappear behind the horizon. That's holidays! :D
The queue at San Marco was sooo long!
Sitting in the shade next to a large group of nuns.
A bridge and a boat.
Sometimes the signs were just slightly contradicting. ;)
Our gondola/traghetto ride.
Some cute little square in San Polo (or possibly Dorsoduro).
Car with boobs (painted on its side). It just stood there as a random piece of art.
Masks are very popular souvenirs here. These are a little different. :D
Wing in front of the da Vinci exhibition (apparently, they reconstructed a lot of his machines).
Gondola with Gondeliere and Asian tourists :D
7€ Bellini. This is not where we bought it because obviously, the price tag didn't change.
Vaporettos always honk and they don't leave gondolas an awful lot of space, either. It seems as if Italian driving extends to boats.
The sun over the canal.
Accademia bridge.
Rusty boat and container (they just stood there, I think it's supposed to be art...)
Lido's beach bar. Bit blurry because I had to steady the camera using my knees...
The pedal boat we sat on.
