So.. I'm officially back! I've been in town for a week by now, but I had to organise my house/timetables/bills/etc before I could devote some time to my virtual activities.
The trip was AWESOME. Really. Some numbers and tidbits:
- We were on the road for 29 days,
- hitchhiked more than 2000km (!!!),
- slept in 13 different locations... the best one was beside a public irrigation channel (where we took a dive to avoid the heat), near the road, in a town called Allen, where a truck driver left us.
- We had bad weather for over two-thirds of our journey. People kept complaining they had no summer, that the cold had ruined a lot of crops and blamed the El Niño oscillation. Despite all this, I am as tanned as I've EVER been.
- Our longest walk was a "mild" uphill mountain path, 25km long, which took us 8 hours to complete. It was so muddy! I thought I'd never make it, and got to the place (it's called "Los Laguitos") completely exhausted.
- Our most dangerous deed was going down a mountain in the middle of a windy snow. We had got to a mountain refuge by Laguna Negra (a black lagoon on top of a mountain) the day before, in good weather, but 2 hours later it turned into a snowstorm. We spent the night in the refuge (a kind of log cabin, it was bloody cold inside) but we didn't have enough money to spend another one, so we decided to go down at midday. It was snowing and SO windy (I'm so light that I was terrified of it beating me down) that when we crossed the stone bridge -the stones were tied by wires on the stream!- outside the refuge I thought the gust would just blow me away down the cliff, as there were no tress there to slow down the gales. But... I survived and once we went a little down the mountain, the wind was a lot lighter and warmer, and the walk from there was very agreeable despite my wet feet.
- I put up 1 kg. YAY!!! I only need four more now to be ok.
I missed frills and studs and long jackets so much. And all of you.
I should get over my laziness and post some of the pictures, but... IDK... people tend to find journey pictures boring.
I'm a little (only a little) glad to be back. I missed Buenos Aires, my home, my COUCH (!!!), my frills and studs and long black jackets and eyeliner (!!!).
And all of you. Yeah, I missed my friends the most. Hope I'll see you/talk to you soon!!!
