Hair dyeing/bleaching tips stuff

I re-dyed my hair Pink on the weekend. So I thought I'd put this together :D

Bleaching, Hair Dyeing and After Care

Things you probly need:
- Hair Dye
- Bleach
- Gloves
- Container for mixing
- brush (to spread dye easily and mix)
- dark crappy towel
- deep conditioner
- Shampoo

When you want to dye your hair, any color, not just a ‘weird’ (Pink, Green, Yellow, Purple, Blue ect...) color, you need to make sure your hair will actually take it. The more damaged your hair is, the easer the hair is going to take the dye. Although having damaged hair is a bad thing, no one likes getting split-ends, or having their hair break off or fall out. Actually, the chances of your hair ‘falling out’ because of bleaching, or dyeing is pretty slim, it’s more likely that weak hair will break off instead. Still not a good thing. You need to make sure, especially after bleaching, you need to use a deep conditioner of your hair, or an avocado paste head wrap, it sounds icky, and it kind of is, but it gets much needed proteins back in to your damager hair.

(from www.savvymiss.com)
Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado, mashed
2 tablespoons sour cream or plain yogurt
Juice of half a lemon (optional)

If you have dry or color-treated hair, leave out the lemon juice in this recipe. Use this conditioning hair pack weekly to help keep your hair soft and healthy.

Now, to dye your hair with less mess, hopefully, you should have things set out in the order your going to need them. Always remember not to condition your hair before dyeing, I don’t actually know the real reason you shouldn’t, but I think it is because the conditioner coats your hair, to keep things that damage hair off/out, so dye will not take to your hair as easily.

ALWAYS USE GLOVES! Have at least two pairs, one for bleaching, and one for dyeing.

Make sure you have containers for mixing bleach, incase it doesn’t come in a ready-to-use-tube. Most Box dyes come in ready to use tubes with applicators, if you are using ‘weird’ colors (Pink, Green, Yellow, Purple, Blue ect...), usually come in tubs, unless your using Special Effects™, which comes in a tube. Manic Panic™ and Punky Color™ comes in tubs. If you are using Special Effects™, I would recommend using some sort of crappy container, like a old yogurt container to squeeze the dye in to.

Try to get your self some hair dye brushes, there the ones that come in the box dyes, I get them from my Moms Box dyes, if you clean them properly you can re-sue them. They are useful for spreading the dye evenly in to your hair, and they good for mixing bleach and mixing dye.

Dark towels will be your best friend when you’re dyeing your hair. I think its food to keep one crappy towel to use whenever you dye your hair, its easer then ruining other towels.

Now that we have the basics requirements for dyeing your hair, you need to go get your dye! (And Bleach if you need it). The instructions in the dyes are pretty straightforward, you need to make sure your fallow them. If your afraid your color will not take as well as you want it to, leave it on an additional 5-10 minuets to the time recommended, Special Effects™ says 15-30 minuets. I think, I’ll look again, anyway, 30 minutes is a really good amount of time to keep the dye on your hair.

Now, you’ve Bleached and Dyed your hair, its time to wash out your hair! wOOt. Make sure you get as much dye out of your hair as possible. After you’ve gotten enough of the dye out, shampoo and condition your hair. I would recommend doing it twice, so you don’t get as much dye wash out of your cloths or towels, and it can make your color look more vibrant.

So now your done, I bet your color look great! You may want to re-dye every 3-4 weeks. I hope this little essay thingy helped you.
