Armor is not heavy, with examples!

Dec 09, 2011 07:13

You all know how you hear medieval armor is so heavy/bulky and if you fell down in it, you couldn't get back up?

Well, here's some armor and it's actual weight for real reference :)

George Clifford's armor ca. 1585, a complete set of fully articulated plate, 60 lbs

Sir James Scudamore's armor, 68.5 lbs

Henry the VIII's field armor (Big guy!), 50 lbs.

German plate ca. 1560, 44.6 lbs.

Henry II's armor, 53 lbs.

Not exactly as popular perception fits, eh?

armor, history, medieval
